I agree,I was looking in my larwson mag and they make grade 8 bolts that are stronger than ur normal ones..they say 30%...I have never seen a jeep fail with one upper arm yet...if people run around with a 3 link like rockkrawler and it never fails I think we should be ok...iron rock run's one upper aswell!!!

Aren't people replacing the upper CA-to-axle bushings with johnny joints? Thats what I did.

bringing up this thread again...I have read in various places that Moog part k3166 is a replacement for the upper control arm bushings.

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...5_714854695___ has these for 23 bucks in a "kit" so there a bit more than $11 each! that is awesome price which is a tad cheaper than the Napa one posted, but not sure if fitment is the same. any ideas?

    Thanks!

I guess those fit the WJ fine...I still can't find much info on if the ZJ and WJ are interchangeable or what the difference is if any.

I always buy ZJ bushings. Kolak says there is a slight difference. Unnoticeable to me though.

Part number K3166 is TJ rear upper control arm bushings.

Paired side by side to the real ZJ UCA bushings, they're much stronger, and have less deflection.

OD and ID is the same, it's just the rubber is much stiffer.

I'll have to check those out. When I was in Moab I had a broken front UCA bolt(axle end) from the bushing being damaged. Fortunatly the NAPA there had some in stock. The hole in the arm was a bit oblonged as well so I drilled it and the bushing out to the next size SAE bolt. That bushing wasn't fun to drill out!!!

Clay, you can get the currie hard joints to fit into the UCA mount with options for a 7/16" or 1/2" bolt hole

I was considering that as well but I wonder about the wisdom of not having something with a bit of "give" up there.

Are you running them, or anyone else? Does it make the ride noticeably harsher on rough terrain at speed?
