Dave, maybe you might know this since your tags are expired too.
If I drive the jeep to the emissions testing site, and assuming I don't get stopped by a cop, will they accept it with expired tags? I really don't want to go to the DMV to get temp tags, then go to emissions, then back to the DMV for new tags.
They let you test with expired tags. They just plug it in and run the dyno...above their pay grade to deal with expired tags.
I finally got my lazy ass in gear yesterday and started getting the ZJ's cooling system R&Rd. Got everything torn down today, so will be cleaning gasket surfaces tomorrow and start putting it back together. Takes me a LOT longer nowadays to do stuff like this, but it's still kinda fun.
Looks like I need a new starting battery, too, which is OK since I had moved the fridge battery over to the 280ZX months ago. The old ZJ battery will probably be good enough to power the fridge.
I can confirm that the testing station in Sheridan can do 35s. Had it done last year and they didn't even bat an eye at the tires. Minimal if any wait when I did it.
They wouldn't know an expired tag from a basketball. Show up with your renewal card or registration and they do their stuff.
Well that was annoying. Put 33's on the back, drive to emissions station. Dude comes and asks me if my ZJ was originally AWD, tell him yeah I swapped the t-case 15 years ago it's 2WD now. He tells me they have to test it as AWD now since that's how it came from the factory . . . . . I've talked to this guy before and I could tell he thought it was dumb too, but the verdict came from his boss and I've gotten into it with his boss before so I wasn't going to go there. The saying "it's very difficult to win an argument with an intelligent person, and impossible to win an argument with an idiot" comes to mind with the manager there. So I say F it, run home, swap the 33's from my camper over to the ZJ, drive it back over there and pull in 3 minutes before they close. Tell them it's in 4Hi already since apparently they need the front tires to actually power the dyno, fawk if I know. Anyways, passes flying colors. Shocker.
I love it how our government won't let some businesses have a monopoly, but they make it state freaking law that these idiots must have a monopoly.
And my ZJ looks stupid on 33's.
So dumb how that plays out...sometimes they care, sometimes not...

Same issue came up with me a few years ago. I told them I had a 231 and a HP44 with hubs that were unlocked it was in 2wd, they said no. I came back latter with 4 small tires and had to test it in the all-wheel-drive lane and I just kept it in 2 high.
Glad you got it done I'm going to have to do it again later this year. Oh joy
Hi lift, PA for cb, and fire extinguisher, installed today. I'll mount tires for tow rig next week.
I renewed the Reg and smog last week. In NV, they just plug into the computer and done. Costs $19, Takes less than 5 min, and no trips to DMV. However, it's Washoe county, which is the same as Kalifornia, and smog is required on my 01 F250... Freakin truck doesnt even have cats. Its a visual test on a dyno! At least my trailer is smog exempt, for now
I was working on one of the ARB solenoids. Got it replaced and the back locker was blowing air our through the axle vent. Dropped the center chunk last weekend, verified that the o-rings were leaking, ordered parts, now have to reassemble it and hope that gear oil doesn't pour out the ends of the 9 inch.
Are we doing a swap meet/parts Exchange this year?
Because Jeep.
My truck is beginning to piss me off. Having some major electrical issues. Will have ended up replacing all of the battery cables trying to sort it out. Already did the positive side, negatives and grounds arrive Wednesday.

Fan controller went out today...dammit.
Good thing it failed ON and not off.
9 years on a DC Controls fan controller is pretty damn good I think. Knocking on wood I can get a new one before GSW, otherwise it'll be relay time.
Couldn't help myself. Bought some 35's so now onto the trim, adj, test, trim phase again...
Yes! Don't fear the grinder!!!
Need some 37s if they are floating around somewhere in good shape!
Because Jeep.
Anyone have a rear output cone for a nv242?
