Well I figured I may as well make a build thread on this.

Dropping a 2000 Chevy 5.3l & 4L60E into my 1999 WJ 4.0l. I thought it would have more room then a ZJ but it's got less! I'll need a little hood scoop too.

    I'm using the LS1 F-Body manifolds.

1st day just pulling the old crap out

2nd day test fitting the engine and making room. Going to plate the uniframe and box it in again inside.

Nice... welcome to the GM Gen III powered Grands club.

what are your plans for the PCM programming and harness work?

damn badass man. One of the first non-dodge WJ engine swaps i've seen. The only other non-factory swap I can even think of is a guy's 5.2 swap (nonpoint or something?).

I'm definately going to have to watch this.

I'm doing the wiring once I look into it more. A little confused on some of it. I don't have the GM fuse box, I am going to try and use my stock fuse box and rewire it for this.

As for tuning, I have HP Tuners and have tuned tons of vehicles. I'm going to keep the stock Jeep speed sensor (mine was converted from ABS speed signal by changing the tail shaft to a 96XJ style). The GM speed sensor does 40 pulses per shaft revolution, the Jeep one for 6 pulses per sensor revolution so I need to figure out what number to plug into HP tuners to make it work.

cool, I did my harness work with the info on lt1swap.com and found it easy, but I'm sure you know way more about the pinouts than I do if you do a lot of tuning. And Dakota digital has some speedo signal converters if you end up not being able to trick the PCM with any magic number.

The only thing I'm having a hard time with is what size fuses to use I guess. I understand the wiring and have read over it more and more now and I got a grasp on it now.

I've read that thread plenty. Very nice build!

But I'm just looking for opinions on how to rebuild the part of frame we cut out. We have some ideas, just want more input.

    Nice work man.

I got bored so I doodled this up in paint. I can't tell wahts going on at the bottom of the rail so that one line might not make sense, but I say just plate the shit outta it.

oh and I was out at the local jeep junker the other day looking at alot of wrecked WJ's for parts, but I also looked at how they failed in the wrecks. In all of the front end collisions when they were hit from a corner, both the frame rails folded sideways about 2-3" in front of the factory motor mounts. It was the same story on so many of them it almost looked like a designed crumple zone. Just saying that to make sure you reinforce everything

    Thanks buddy!

The stock frame was reinforced a lot right around the motor mounts. We are still doing a little more cutting today and then the welding begins. Hope to have the engine sitting in there by Monday and the frame rails all plated. Then I'd say another week and I'll have it going down the road I hope.

Got a bunch of stuff done since my last update. Mostly little things.

Testing fitting after frame was done on inside

    Passenger side clearance

    Drivers side clearance

    Out side frame plating

    Passenger inside

    Driver inside

Cleaned up the engine and trans a little

You got that boxed in pretty nice. The engine looks WAY better after you cleaned it up! You get that transfer case figured out yet?

I was amazed at what a can of engine degreaser and a quick pressure wash did.

I have a clocking ring on the way and swapped the np233 inputshaft into my np242.

Building mounts this week I hope if I find the time.

What are you doing about the shifter? Where the GM usually has 4 forward gear selections? And what are you doing for throttle and shifter cables, etc? Got it figured out yet?
