With GSW just 4 mo. away, I've realized, I don't have a lot of time to get the add-on's and bugs from the winter's hibernation taken care of. I need to do well this Valentines Day to please the Financial Director (Gears, lights, Tie Rod flip, tires, ect).
I'll have the skid plate and exhaust from Kolak installed this month. Would really like to get the Tie Rod flipped.
Curious on who's going and what you're needing to get done done before June. This is the first time in 4 yrs, since buying the Dub, I've been able to get the time off from work. Looking forward to meeting some great people and like minded Wj owners...Not a lot here in Sparks Nevada.
Thanks again to BigDaveZJ for getting this together.
My ZJ is in pieces in my shop right now. Front diff being rebuilt, re-working most of the steering. Also need some taller springs or spacers in the back. Need to fix the a/c. Reinforce the unibody in the back in a few places, and beef up the mounting points for my rear bumper.
Looking forward to having you out at GSW!
ZJ needs all new front axle shafts and tires, wj needs steering tightened/replaced and both need fluid check and suspension gone over! There's more but that is the main focus for now!

So how's everyone doing on their lists? I was able to get the skid plate, new 35's, and upper/lower spring retainers installed. An Uniden Pro520xl cb and Profab rear bumper on order. Tie Rod flip for this Sat. Going to snow, nothing else to do. Still trying to determine which gears to go with and possibly a locker. I'm running a 6" w/35 and Varilocks. Leaning 4:88's and Spartan rear. Trail rig only. Have about $2k to play with after the bumper purchase (and braces for two kids). Once the rear is done, i'll truss/skid it. I'd like to run Moab Rim, Golden Spike and maybe Rusty Nail, but again, I haven't been to Moab since lifting the Dub and the Varilocks w/35's are concerning me.
Vari lok works great up to 33's. With 35's they fail to perform in the way I think you would want them to.
ummm wait, we're supposed to fix stuff? and get ready BEFORE we get there?
So load the trailer, get the Jeep strapped down and haul my rig all the way to Moab, oh wait, never mind, just gotta fuel up and drive an hour and a half!
Don't forget to put your tow hooks in the cargo area Cupcake.
Last Saturday,"Brown Santa" dropped off several goodies I had ordered a few weeks ago online. When I tore through the packaging, I realized there's not much time left and the window of ordering, getting it shipped, and installed, was getting smaller. A strange panic started setting in, along w/insomnia, and a small fire was lit under my a$$...I'd spend the next 4 days grinding, pounding, welding, swearing, drilling, painting, soldering, and of course, more jeep provoked swearing. I'm pretty sure my neighbors hated me and although I'm almost done (ready for Moab that is), I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather be doing with my kids, besides wheelin', than teaching valuable skills that they'll use later in life. My dad taught me this when he would work on his CJ5 and when I bought my first CJ7 in 94'. I'm proud to be part of the Jeep family and look forward to meeting you all in June. - Robert
Tow rig is 90% ready to go. New batteries, oil change, and fuel filter today. Just need to change up the backup cam and CB wiring as they're currently on the same power supply and not playing nice.
Getting ready to pull the ZJ into the shop next. Tranny is slipping a bit, hoping it's just low on fluid. Need to put taller pucks in the back, fix the a/c, find the dead spot in my steering, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting at this point. But I drove it around the block today for the maybe the 2nd or 3rd time since GSW last year, so that's a step in the right direction at least!
Oh baby, less than a month to go?!! Hurry Brown Santa, Daddy needs his parts!!
Mine expire this month....using my one month grace period and dealing with it after GSW for sure!!
As for the Jeep, swapping front springs, dialing driveshafts and installing 9" skid. Only other thing will be talking myself into/out of swapping to 35's...miss 'em.
Guess I should also put "register" on my to do list...
