long awaited update. got motor swapped 2 months ago.
After I got it out I got a better look at my fram cracks
Cracked at steering box mount
Plated all inner rails
Started tear down of old motor
Yum
Then took heads off new (well newer motor) to clean the the cylinders. this is from sittting for 6 years outside under a tarp, cleaned it all up and wire brushed tops of all pistons the rest looked great
Cleaned up all the valves and replaced seals
Started machining TB
All clean and purdy
Motor back together
And ready to put back in
No pics of it installed. But runs great, been dd'in it for 2 months now
That's a purrrdy lookin motor!!! Nicely done!
Seems like everyone's builds involve motor rebuilding/replacing these days..
nice work!
Looking good man. How did you get the aluminum so clean - media blast or hot tank?
No headers?
I guess I need to get off my ass and plate my frame rails before the same thing happens to me.
all I did was pressure wash it actually with purple power
its because of the way they were manufactured, pumpkin is slightly offset, but the pinion yolk is dead center, 90% of axles are like that, there are a few exceptions (ford 9").
also go here...http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/sho...highlight=totm
oh and i beleave its update time.
