I have only got a couple right now but am getting more.

(Notice the door is the only thing that didnt get smashed down, the roof is on top of the seat)

(Getting ready to go down the trail to get airlifted out)

Glad to be alive, if I didnt get ejected the roof would of broken my neck when it came down. Hope to be back on the trails again soon! Goodluck and safe wheeling to everyone go to Moab.

believe me I know what it's like to wake up in ICU after a accident, I even got to ride in a Lifeflight Helo but I don't remember any of it, and it sucks. I also know the feeling of waking up and not being able to move the whole right side of my body, it's a truely scary situation! but fortuanately for me mine came back after getting patched up for breaking 10 bones all at once and then getting some pretty intense rehab for all my nerve damage. I really feel for you man, and hope for a good recovery. Don't get discouraged!

Rehab is tuff, I mean I know its good for me but man I miss everything I used to do as a "able body" person. Everything just kinda hits you at once, I found out that my now ex girlfriend of two years was screwin some other guy after I got in my accident. Like I love having my family around to help me and my friends but theres somthing about have a girlfriend there to help you and then to find out shes screwin some other guy, wow that was a slap in the face! I dunno shit suck and I cant wait to get back into a rig and out on the trails again! I hope I get to meet you all one day out on the trails, you all are a great bunch of guys! I thank you all for all of the support.

    Mark,

Yea it really sucks to rebuild your life like you are doing, but you seem to have a GREAT attitude about it and that is KEY.

And hey atleast you are a web wheeler just think if you did not even have that.

So are you home now and just going to theropy or are you still at the hospital in Vallejo?

I think this needs to be a sticky for a little while, not meaning ANY negativity towards Mark, but we all need to remember what could happen to any one of us when we head out.

    Be safe.

    Mark,

Don't give up. And please keep us updated. Having a positive attitude in the face of junk like this is a good thing. Just try to keep it real and do not discourage yourself. Family is great, keep them around

keep that positive attitude and you'll be back in time.
I work with a guy who a year ago got t-boned and required brain surgery, spinal surgery etc- doctors gave him little to no chance of regaining quality of life- and i saw him today and thorugh his perserverance he's got almost everything back! he was at a mud bog at the weekend flying around in the passenger seat loving every minute- and he can;t wait to get his license back (he didn;t lose it cause of the accident- but because of how messed up he was after- they thought he;d never drive again).

so again good luck and get better!

Just remember to take everything slowly and with ease. Get back into the swing of things and all will be good.

From looking at your rig, it's amazing you survived. I'm also a fireman and see a lot of rollovers and wrecks, your's is one of the worst I've seen. I wish you all the best.

Today's technology holds a great deal of promise for you, so don't loose your spirit. One of my fellow firefighters is the RN that cared for Christopher Reeve, and I know that tremendous medical advances are being made in the area of battling paralysis. Part of the battle is the determination of the patient, the other part is the medical technology. Every day we hear stories about patients who beat the odds to accomplish more than ever seemed possible. Not to mention all the new technology to help patients with paralysis do more than ever before, (just look at the cool wheelchair you riding as an example).

But the best hope of all lies in the automotive arena. Just look at what Alex Zanardi accomplished recently with prosthetic legs...he competed in a DTM race. Paddle shift DSG gearboxes are not only here, but they are starting to filter down to more reasonably priced vehicles. And there are billet made hand control systems (not so new anymore) that are good enough to drive on a racetrack. I have ridden in a very fast Corvette with hand controls, driven to the limit on a racetrack by a parapalegic. We saw over 150mph, and he totally scared the shit out of me. But he was as smooth as any driver using his legs.

Wow, you are truly amazing! I think it is great that after the wreck you still are so excited about wheeling, that is wonderful. Glad to hear that you are doing better. It is amazing how positive you are about all of this. I wish you luck for the future.
