I just purchase a replacement idle air control module and don't know exactly where to install it.
I was told it is located near the throttle body, but don't know where that is on the 5.9. I would appreciate it if someone could post some pictures to show me where to find it.
Thanks!
Get a Haynes manual or do some searching.
It screws in to the Throttle body. That's the shiny thing with a black tube from the box that the air filter goes in. You'll need a Torx driver to install it. Easier to remove the trhottle body and do a good cleaning also. For that you'll need 13MM socket and new gasket, plus a 8MM socket to remove the throttle cable bracket.
Use a can of carb/ trottle body cleaner and tooth brush to clean out all the carbon. Which is most likely your cause of failure or why you think you need to replace the IAC sensor.
That's really helpful Nate. Gee, thanks.Originally Posted by nate
THe IAC is on the Back/firewall side of the TB.
This board assumes minimal knowledge when it comes to wrenching on your vehicle. The IAC is about as basic as it gets. Questions like this are best posted on JU/JF. At best this should have been posted in Newbie Tech, not the Repair ShopOriginally Posted by gdupjeep
Yup. Do some research yourself before you ask simple questions.
Well, I don't consider myself a newbie in any way. However, I have a K&N fipk so it isn't exactly the same as a stock setup.Originally Posted by CurtP
And as far as the assinine "do a search" replies go, that is pretty typical of online forums. I never expect anything less from people with way too much time on their hands wasting keystrokes with that crap. I DID search for some pics and how to do an install, and nothing came up. That's why I asked.... also it isn't as if I asked what size tires I can fit with a 2" BB or if the Tornado will give me extra h.p.
I do appreciate the genuine responses.

That's the kind of shit newbies always sayOriginally Posted by gdupjeep
I'm sure the K&N moved your IAC
Even though THIS photo is for the 4.7L WJ you can see what the IAC will look like.
Before I posted this, I went outside, looked at my 4.0L throttle body...and wouldn't ya know it...I found the IAC for my jeep.
Regaurdless of the location of any item, one thing you can count on is that for the most part...a peticular item will look the same.
An IAC is an IAC. Just because the one you find on GOOGLE isn't for your peticular jeep, try to find the model closest to yours. You'd be suprised...

He actually got it in the right spot. Newb tech is only for modifications related the increased offroad prowess, where as this forum is for fixing stuff like this.Originally Posted by CurtP
As for the responses given in this thread, you gotta grow some thicker skin. You have the part. You know it goes somewhere near the throttle body. Is it that hard to look at the part in your hand and find the matching piece near the throttle body?
Don't thank me, thank GOOGLE!!!Originally Posted by gdupjeep
Like I said, look in Google or the Haynes manual.
It's not a complicated thing.
Now had you said, guys, I searched google, repair manual, etc and I'm still not quite sure, that is a different story.
