I'm looking to replace my drivers door hinge pins & bushings. I have 2 new pins and 4 new bushings.... and am looking for a bit of info from someone who has replaced them.

Seems as though the new upper pin will have to be driven in from the bottom (found some info from someone who said that you can tack weld it in so it doesn't drop out the bottom). Also noted that the factory pins are mushroomed at the top and bottom... and the new pins are mushroomed on one side only.

Again.. just looking for some info from someone who has done this before.... for some tips and things to watch for.

    Thanks in advance!

I would assume cutting the pin would be involve since they are mushroomed on both ends...

I would think replacing the entire hinge would be easier. I need to look into this pretty soon myself....

Best bet would be to go see a body shop and get their advice. I've never had to replace door pins before

I just looked at these last night and it's going to be a crappy job. Definitely going to have to cut the existing pin, and you can't just replace the whole hinge since it's welded to the door.

I think the best way to go is to pull the door completely (cut the electrical connections and put some quick connects in there. That way you can easily get to the pins for cutting and hammering them back in.

Alright.... I finally got to doing my hinge Pins & Bushings........ Super Easy!!!

I ground off the top mushroom on the upper hinge... and the lower mushroom on the lower hinge. Then held up the door with my engine hoist... unbolted the 4 bolts holding both hinges in place. Knocked out the pins (upper one downwards... and lower one upwards). Then tapped out the old bushings and tapped in the new ones... lubed them up nicely and put in the pins (upper one upwards... lower one downwards). Bolted up the hinges back to the Jeep... tested and made sure it was perfect (which is was).... then tack welded the pins (top on the upper one, and bottom on the lower one) so they would not work their way out.... and BAM... 1/2 hour of work!!

Highly recommended to the guy tired of the door sagging. Mine was sagging about 1/4" and it didn't completely wear through the bushing yet... so there is hope for the super sagging door.

Pins & bushings were super cheap from the dealer.

Hope you get yours done... feels like a new Jeep!
