Anyone here make some sort of quarter panel protection? Here's what I had in mind, sorry it is made in Paint, didn't have any other software to use.
And this why I need it:
Edit: the first pic is not so good, I'll try to redo it so you understand what my thoughts were.
Yeah I see where you nicked it.. Did you go to morris mountain this past weekend?
Yeah, I went to Morris Mountain this weekend. That place is nice, just too slippery in the wet conditions for a 5500 pound Jeep - got up close and personal with a tree.
95 ZJ, that's what I was looking for, what material did you use and could the tube be attached to the panel?
I've seen some made out of that tough ass plastic and riveted in, but the best way to do it is like its pictured about.. run some tube from your rear bumper to your rock slider to really provide some impact resistance.
Bringing up this older post as I am moving forward on this llittle project. I banged out most of the dent from inside the cargo area. Here is the template I made, the other side will have a cutout for the gas door:
Panels have since been cut out of 14 ga steel plate- now contemplating if that is thick enough, may double up the panels to provide a little more protection. Next up is to bend and weld tube,

George, George, George of the jungle.......watch out for that treeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
sounds like the beginning of an exo
That's what the plan is- I'll add more as my wheeling style changes and I need more protection. I will eventually tie it into a steel rear bumper and the sliders.

Here are the peices I cut out of 14 guage mounted to the quarters:
Now to bend and weld tube, then prep and paint it. Let me know what you think.
Want to see it with some tube but looks cool.
Buttonhead bolts with nylock nuts on the backside- several were a real PITA to get to.Originally Posted by Puma297

Hope you threw some paint on the backside of that before you put it to the body.

Looks good so far. I got back into bending mode tonight so just holler whenever you get a chance and we'll figure out when we want to get the tube added..
This is just the mockup stage, will be fully prepped and painted before permanent mounting.Originally Posted by chadjans
Cam, I will call you- I'm not sure when I can get by right now.
To revive an old thread, did you ever finish this up?
a few people have done protection like this. look at the old KOZ offroad ZJ. Action Fab bought it. then sold it to anothe rguy.
I'm so confused why you of all people bump old threads haha.
cause no new threads are being posted.
I'm trying to get some traffic through here.
I'm always interested in watching someone armor up. So, I'll bump as well.
