so I picked up my 242 tcase today for 200 bucks, not bad I don't think considering the local yards want 750-800 for them . I just had to make a trip down to stockton for it. I'm lookin at getting a DS tomorrow, so *hopefully* I can get it thrown in. After that I may chop out the rear wheel well, we will see how the progress goes.
You didn't trim the rear yet ? Are you running extended bump stops at all out back ?
Just order a new one and save yourself the hassle of the used junk, for the small difference in price its worth it.
stock bumpstops in the rear, though I will be throwing some in sometime though.
The only wear item on a DS I'm worried about are the u-joints, remember out here in ca we don't get much rust so used stuff is nice to work with =D
Speaking of that, I just got done putting new joints in a shaft I picked up from a local junkyard in swap for some spare parts, sweet. I was planning on doing the tcase today to, but I didn't feel like it after the joints were being a PITA (I have a broken vice right now =/)
well I got the 242HD thrown in today, all in all it went pretty easy, took 4 hours but a friend was helping, but doing things slower than me (frustrating =/). Probably could do it in 3 on my own. With the 44 now nothing in my front end moves in 2wd, its nice knowing if I break something I don't have a replacement for in the front I can disengage everything and still drive with it. Gotta tune the rear DS angle a little bit, and in the next couple days I'm planning on pushing the front axle forward 1 1/2 or 2", and the rear back an inch. I have a few pics, I'll throw em up.

yeah I do, from 35 to about 45. I haven't tested freeway speeds, but I had one on the freeway, but I think it was my transfercase tearing itself apart, there was about a cup of fluid left in it when I pulled it today lol.

lol I'm hoping to get to my jeep today and do a good amount of adjusting on the claytons, I'm also going to be rotating the front axle to give me some better caster, mines been off for a while. We'll see how the vibes are at the end.
Well, I got to test the 242 on the freeway, smooth as a butter. I have a hardcore tire shake comin out of the rear at freeway speeds that's pretty damn annoying, but then again the 2 swampers on the back weren't worn even and none are balanced so yeah.
I pushed the front axle forward about an inch maybe inch and a half yesterday, at the same time I fixed my caster for driveability. The caster makes the steering MUCH nicer but I haven't flexed it out yet to test clearance. I still havent fixed the wallowed out track bar holes yet though, really need to get on it.
alright damn I just went through and fixed basically all of the broken links, got the pics back up in the correct directories FINALLY haha.
I'm in the middle of doing something I told myself I would never do again, the dash is out for the second time fixing these god damn blend doors so I actually have some sort of heat and AC.
It was pretty shitty, but I got the job done with my cousins help in 2 days, taking our time. I got a new blend door assembly and recirc door assembly when I did it and swapped them in without issue. I found out once I had everything back together that I have the blend door motors on the wrong sides or atleast the wires swapped. Its actually pretty funny. Not only do the left knobs control the right side and vice versa, but because the motors have to rotate different ways for each side, hot is now cold and cold is now hot. To turn up the heat on the drivers side, I have to turn the pass side knob down hahaha.
While it was apart I also soldered the blower motor resistor wires to the resistor pack eliminating that connection as mine was melted and only worked half the time. Now I have consistant heat WOOO!
Also went on a snow camping trip saturday, it was PIMP. It just HAPPENED to line up with the biggest full moon of the year which lead to a spectacular view and an awesome night. No lights were needed at night at all.

Ok so some guy in a yota came up to our camp side from part of the road we hadn't been on yet and said there was a dodge stuck down the road like 1/4 mile (random person, dodge ram with open diffs and mud tires) and was wondering if we could help this guy, but there was no where to turn around. We accepted, and proceeded to back down the road about TWO MILES to this dodge that was stuck GOOD. We daisy chained 5 trucks together but still couldnt get enough traction to pull this guy out. he was up to his frame in icy snow and didn't know what he was doing. After atleast 2 hours of trying to get him out we gave up and headed back to camp as he and the girl he was with decided they were going to sleep in the truck (as it was night by the time we left). Lets jsut say not hte smartest people but we couldnt convince them otherwise. No pics while we were down there, but heres a pic of us backing down the trail with an awesome moon.
At the top of a badass snowy hill climb we hit on our way out, theres a vid im trying to get ahold of of me going up it...talk about tire speed hehe

thanks man, and yeah that countryside is what I get for living near the sierra's, The whole trip was on the roads leading up to the rubicon. This was my first time snow camping and we had a blast.

Thanks guys, the jeep is getting some treats soon. My dad has been looking into replacing his WJ for a while now, and earlier this week he lost all compression in one cylinder of his 4.7 HO (even if you add oil), so he's getting himself a used one. He is letting me swap parts off my WJ as long as it doesnt look like a junker afterwards.
I'm taking his rear glass as a saw fell across mine and severed my defroster lines, as well as one is broken off the window. I get his gas tank and heavy duty skid (3/16" compared to the 1/16" tin foil im running now). I'm also swapping both his front seats as they arent broken, arent worn through, and IF i get lucky I can get his seat heaters working. Also I get to swap his transmission (PIMPIN, like 50k on it and mine is sluggish). i'm also looking at taking his lower mileage alternator as mine has 220 something k miles on it, and I believe his is a higher output (not sure though). Also taking one of his AC lines as I blew one a while ago. I'm getting hooked up hardcore in this whole deal and I'm pumped.
Alright so as some of you know I've been doing work on my gas tank (http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum//sh...ad.php?t=18480), stealing my dads skid, and popping the dents outta my tank, well I took it to the next step because I was already so far along. I chopped the rear wheel well out this morning, and now I'm looking into raising the tank higher than most people go.

But where I am sitting right now, the tank actually fits between the frame rails, I'm going to have to see if I can manipulate the skid to fit in there also. Then all I have to do is redo the in-cab "dent" if you will for the filler neck hoses.
