Ok, so im gonna truss my 9" using the same design as BTF:
http://www.bluetorchfab.com/oscomm/c...ana44truss.jpg
mine will obviously not have the diff cover reinforcement as there is no cover on the 9", but it will sit directly on top of the center section & be welded there. Do you guys think 3/8" plate will be heavy enough to support my traingulated uppers??? The BTF one uses 1/2". I'll also be adding more supports out towards the ends of the tubes.
3/8's should be enough. Wait for Kris to upload a pic of his first 9" truss/housing that he built. Looks like a fawking space shuttle from the future.
I used 1/4" square tubing for the truss on my 8.8, and I've had no problems with it. So yeah, 3/8" should be enough. Tubing would give you more surface area to weld, but if you're set on plate, go for it.
I believe I made my upper mount out of 1/4"
Bob and I used 1/4 for mine. 3/8s will be more than enough.
good to know, i'm gonna plate it in (like box), just starting with the top section like BTF's & adding from there.
