giving myself an alignment. the jamnut on the tre froze so i couldnt get it out. my guess is the heat i was using on the nut just melted the plastic-ish coating that sits inside the housing around the ball. a good tug at my wrench and it just popped free.

definatly use anti seise(sp) on your jamnuts.

Luckily 1-ton ends are guaranteed for life.

Shit, I might have to loosen the jambs on mine and hit them with some anti-zeize...I doubt JCR put any on there.

my end might have been a lemon.

Ive never had a problem with my drag link jam nuts. my passenger side TRE was a pain but it did break free. This TRE wouldnt break free for the life of me.

even after cleaning the threads of the tie rod, my new TRE has a hard time getting in there. i check the threads over and over and im not crossthreading a single one.

    Got the 8.8 painted

Everythings ready to get the axle in there. i took everything off the jeep except for the CA's and springs. Im waiting on my buddy who has 6-ton jack stands that are tall enough to hold the jeep up in the air.

Was it a pretty easy swap for ya? Do you know what you set your pinion angle at?

Ok, thanks, im trying to get a number that i can work with. I'm at 3.5-4 inches of lift right now, but i want to get to about 7-8 max. I am doing my swap hopefully this week or next week, and i want the axle to be able to work when i get my lift done without having to reset the pinion angle, even though it will be slightly adjustable with my control arms.

Looking good man. That green brakeclean sucks. I tried it and I hated it. The red stuff is much better.

Came home from school for the weekend.

Got some better pics of the previous post and got to assemble my end links too.

All i have left is to grind off the head of the bolt and drill a hole for a lynch pin.

Got the brackets in there, about to get notched.

notched the brackets and got the center section tacked.

Gettin the corner pieces welded on.

    Almost there

Got the last pieces on and griding down some welds

pulled the bumper and got started burning on the pieces.

96 ZJ swapped in 5.2, 242, 14bolt rear, big ugly home brew bumper, 7.5" of lift in the front 9" in the rear, long arms, hummer wheels with 37s... (dont worry front axle is next)

It should be heavy. Weight is a sign of reliability. If it doesn't work, you can always hit him with it.

The explorer bar is great. Provides a very stable without limiting too much flex. I may make disconnects for the rear, even though i hear people say its bad to have no rear bar offroad.

Bumper should be finished tomorrow. Ill take the time to use an actual camera for the finished pics.
