Due to the fact that my sons soccergame was canceled this morning,
I got the change to go pick up the bead_locks

The inner bead-lock on the rim.

The outer bead_lock on the tire.
Need the check out the fuctional difference for the smaller vs bigger washers.
The bigger ones sure look better
Preping, I think this is the first time I put a wire wheel to something brandnew.
Amazing what a jeep can do to you.
Whit washers M6 centered and made a clamp to fixate.
To avoid warpage made 2 by 2 welds.
Didn't have much practice on the tig, but these are the first to stay.
So made a start, 5 to go.

I really liked how that truss turned out. If I had time and a plasma cutter i think I definitly would of tried to copy that. On the slider it would be kind of interesting to weld steel at a angle to create almost a boat side with it. I know it would suck for trying to get a high lift on it, but it would definitly slide along the rocks.

Since i'm planning to replace the doors for tube, I think it will work to get a high-lift on. I'll measure later

never did, so today I just put the jack to it.
Besides that I have not done anything to the "family car" in the past 6 months.
The bead-locks were welded, and painted on the inside.
Today I painted the outside the first time.
I think the next progress posting will be less then 6 months.

After putting 1 tire on the rim with a lot off force.
For the next 4 I'll go to a tire shop.
Started to tighten the outer with 8 bolts, but already after 2 turns it started to cone.
The space between is 22 mm, not that weird that it cones, despite the fact that the bolt holes are only 5 mm from the edge.
Time to make an anti coning ring, which is also gonna be a centering ring
First attempt will be out off 22 mm MDF
First round.
After 4 rounds, I'm through.
Perfect fit.
Making 5 off them, saves a lott of time dialing in the mill.
2 more for the outer diameter.
When this fails, next try will be with PE.

Wait, so why are you using MDF on your wheels? Just a template I hope, that mdf is going to disintegrate when it gets wet.

Why MDF? cause it's easy to work with, off coarse it will be well painted.

In that case you may want to coat it with some epoxy formulated for immersion.

That's what I was thinking. Does the anti-coning ring have to have any "give" to it? Why not make it out of a narrow strip of steel just thinner than the bead of the tire, bent into a hoop and welded to the inner radius of the inner ring?

The reason why I want to go for the rings over the steel strip thing is that the will help to center the tire on the rim on the bead_lock side.

@ ATL ZJ, you got me thinking, so it's a template after all.
Time to copy 32 to holes, clamped
drilled,
milled the inner radius.
nice fit
almost flat
After looking in how to make this durable for outside use, suitable paints are quite expensive
picked up something else.

First one milled, took about 7 or 8 round's
Outer on to match the 32 holes.
Half way round, needed to sharpen the new HSS12CO drill
All 32 done.
Next milling round,
done.
Nice fit, centered with for pieces of M12 thread.
Enough room for the 90 degree valve.
Tightented with 8 bolts/nuts, got enough pressure to seat the tire on the inside off the rim.
About time to order a big bag off bolts, nuts and rings.

Also wheels/tires, already bought these kind off rims about 5 years ago.
Then they were 15*7 5*4.5 these are 16.5*10 8 lug
Taking a peek, looks good
Limited Slip
27 spline Dana35 C-clip,
30 spline 9"
35 spline 10.25"
Full-floater part.
Firts remove all the parts, then on with the real work.

As for the D44/9 combo's, looks like it's time to let those go, have 2 pair off them.
