So, on the edge off the year.
Had to modify the way I had mounted my limiting straps up front
They sat to close to the shock body when flexed all the way up.
    which caused some rubbing

Cause the bolt is a ½" for the jks shock adapter,
A longer one is not an option since they are harder to get then Metric's overhere.
So welded a short M12 with a M6 washer in between to the stock bolt.

Cause off the washer you get a nice "deep" weld.

    Installed again.

On with the modification or the hydro assist bracket
Removed the tie-rod on the driver-side to slide some "rings" on
Then got everything sort off centered out again.

    tagged it,

Took the tie-rod off and welded each ring in 3 spots.

So for the rest off it, needs some cleaning and anti rust treatment,

most likely that is gonna be next year.

So since I don't feel like translating tonight , you guys need to try this in dutch. Pic's aren't that hard to understand.

in mijn situatie.

    Mogelijke logische axle upgrade kandidaten.
Kleine upgrade Dana44, grootte upgrade Dana60.
F250 en F350 vanaf ergens jaren '70 o.i.d.

    De groote voordelen even samenvattend.

Huh, jawel as lag ruim 400 km verderop.

    Kelvin @ http://www.pscmotorsports.com/ thanks.

As, keerring, afdichtingen, rotor, rotorbladen etc.

Weer even naar de stuurpomp as,

    Mazzel.

    So here we are again.
Recently assembled de steering pump twice, had the rotor housing backwards the first time around.

    top

    bottom

found some time to mount the "jeepclub" shield.

    Getting an allignment

Ready for january 28th, marshal day in Lathum.
    however.
Right after lunch, I heard the front "crack, break" wathever, didn't feel good.
I was sure thought it was the ring gear.

At first sight, sparkles all over.

    Some bigger chunks.

    A few complete tooth

First glanse at the spider gear.

Very carrefully spinned it around, even that didn't go smooth.
Bud the only damage was done to the spider gear.

Liitle damage to the cage, "dremel" works miracles

Just ordered the spider gear, maybe I can make Spaarnwoude on feb 11th.

Cause I had nothing better to do, I started on the rear 404s
Had to get it inside first though
Removing a drumbrake first, cause it was on a little which made rolling the axle hard.
    6 wheel nuts.

2 screw's which secure the drum.
They are tight, so using an impact driver worked.

2 bolts M10 to press the drum off the hub

Damn, everything is working, considering the axle is 44 years old.

    for reference

So meanwhile got it inside and help arrived. took the wheels off again.

wheelnuts back on so the threads won't get damaged.

torque tube removed, only 12 bolts.

    thats about it for now.

You no what is so great about this axle, so far averything is metric.

By the way, this arrived tonight.

so with a little luck, next weekend............

    Ouch, broken spider gears.
    Any idea how that happened?

    404s should be really sweet.

Wow, it has been a while since I updated this one.

I'll start with a damage report of what i broke so far this year.
    -2 sets off spider gears.
    -2 u-joints
    -1 R&P

    Obvious, all on the front.

The only one constructive thing I made was a steering brace.
The whole unimog axle thing is on hold.
Luckily I got My Zj street legal again since last March.
We went on trips to Germany(2), France end last weekend to Belgium.
Next month we'll have a trip to Germany again.
Looking forward to do something constructive again, most likely integrated side-bars.

Besides all this the Zj has gotten a few more dents and scratches.

    Later

    Time to start fabing again.
After a long search and a lot off patience, finally found some nice axles.

    Tell me if you now.

The one I was especialy looking for.

    lock-out hubs and disk brakes

    A NP 205

A NP 435, cause you never know what it is good for.

    Also back then, coils.

    Started to take it apart.

    That's right it is a fo.d b.onco from '77, which had a 351 in it.
So I think I'll spend quiet some time in the shop next winter.
    O, right it's a HP D44 and a 9"

Still have the unimog axles laying around, won't do anything with it right now.

Started to take the whole thing apart

    Taking the D44 out

    Think I'm gonna reuse these.

Spareparts? only the grinder was used on the shock upper studs.

    Cleared the D44

    To be continued.

Besides the big clearance advantage, I also liked the attachment to the chassis with the torque tubes.
So a lot off force comes to the t-case.
I don't think a this time that that kind off attachment to the unibody will hold up.

So I have a couple off them sitting in the garage, some day I think I'll use them.
Most likely on a chassis jeep.

About time to take that 9" out

Sprayed some WD40 on rusty nuts & bolts.
They came loose without a lot off hassle.

And out, didn't weigh as much as I had expected.

    More metal

Chassis on its side to have some room again.

Started on the 9" cause I wanted to know about the small/wide bearings and the 31/35 splines.

Quess this is small, don't know yet what they should measure up to.

    Well it's 31 splines, on the right a d35.

Started to take the D44 apart, looks like it's original 3.50 R&P since it's timestamped '77

Started on the hubs, remove the lock outs.

    nice and greasy

    Taking the retainer out.

Plling the outergear out, followed by a spring.

    Another retainer.

    Innergear

Homebrew tool to get the locknut off

    Bearing locknut.

    again a retainer

followed by an adjusting bearing nut.

Now the hub and rotor should come off.

    Inner bearing.

Those 5 rusty/dusty nuts are keeping the spindle, rotorprotection and brakebackplate in place.

    Steelbrush and wd40 sprayed on.

    And they come off easy

Now they spindle should come off,
Started with tapping and ended with a big hammer, no luck.
Just keep going with the WD40.
All for now. Actually this was yesterday eve.

Ha ha, well actually I have one set off 401 which already have been adapted to run under a CJ I think.
And I have got 2 sets off 404, was thinking about rear steer and stuff like that.
Now sit tight, besides driving into Germay 3 times for this stuff I paid a grant total for these six axles off €470, you can do the conversion on the euro.

If you arrange pickup you can get the 401's.
like said before I'll be doing something with this stuff in the future.

Looks like that 9" has the bigger bearings. I had a site that I used to find my 9" and it told how to distinguish small from big bearings, I'll post it up if I can find it.

    Found it:

It's about a little over half way down the page. You dont have that lobe hanging down on the backing plate as the small bearing does so you've definatly got the bigger bearings. Plus I'm sure you can tell the difference in diameter between the two.

    That's quick, thanks.
