Looks like I've got the day off and I need to go wheeling in a bad way. Barely been wheeling at all this summer. I think I've hit the least amount of trails this year since I bought my ZJ! Fawkin blows!!

Anyways, trying to come up with something that Pam's rig can do too. I'd love to do OCG or Holy Cross, but that'd more than likely mean leaving Pam's rig at home. We're already planning on doing Twin Cone the weekend after Labor Day, so that's out really.

    Anybody up for something?

Holy Cross is probably out, just waaaay too long of a day. What about Wheeler Lake??? Open to pretty much anything besides Carnage or Spring Creek. OCG may be a good option too. Pam's cool with not taking her ZJ as long as I let her drive a little bit, so we're not as restricted on trail difficulty.

Yeah, Holy Cross is looking like a bigtime longshot. Leaning towards OCG or something a little easier so Pam can bring her ZJ too. Kind of a tossup between OCG and Wheeler Lake right now I think.

OCG = Old Chinaman's Gulch, it's down by BV. Pretty fun trail, some stuff that makes Spring Creek look like I-25, but with relatively easy bypasses.

4 hour drive round trip and how long to do the trail? It looks like fun.

Usually takes us about 5 hours round trip . . . my rig isn't exactly street worthy, LOL.

Trail can take anywhere from a couple hours to all freaking day depending on how much stuff breaks.

Try to get some spares too, OCG is notorious for breakage.

Basically a toss up between Wheeler Lake and OCG right now depending on what kind of rigs end up going.

Looks like it's gonna be Wheeler Lake. Pretty easy trail with a few fun spots. Still working out meeting locations and times.

I might be able to make it. I am running holy cross saturday, and camping at Camp Hale, so I could meet you guys at the wheeler lake trailhead sunday. I'll give you a call saturday, Dave, and let you know if I'll be there.

We'll be meeting at The Fort at 8:45 Sunday morning. Hoping to be at the Wheeler Lake trailhead by 11, which should put us at the lake about 1 or so.

If anyone is gonna be meeting us anywhere, let me know.

If you don't hear from me ( I don't know if there is cell service at camp hale) and I'm not at the trailhead at 11, then don't wait. I'll try to make it, but it depends on how Holy Cross goes saturday.

Sorry I was a no show. Holy Cross went fine, just a really long time, i'll get some pics up soon. But on my way out of Camp Hale this morning, I heard a lot grinding noise and lost brakes, power steering, started overheating etc. all the unecessary stuff... A pully below the a/c on the fan belt broke off and the belt fell into the fan and got a little ripped. So I spent the day getting a belt in Eagle-Vail, driving back up and seeing the broken pully too, and by that time the Napa was closed so the Jeep is taking up temporary residence in Eagle-Vail until I get a new pully... fun stuff. Hope you guys had a better day than mine on the trail!
