Been on here for a while but just never really posted anything so i figured i'd start now.

This is my jeep that was build completely out of my garage at my apartment up at school. Not great working conditions but it gets the job done. so after 3 months of long nights and blowing off studying occasionally she's done. (for now atleast)

    Heres my rig:
    1993 ZJ
    -4.0 with intake
    -aw-4
    -231 with sye

    Suspension:
    -Rock Krawler 4" springs w/ 2" pucks
    -custom long arms
    --3-link radius arm front
    --triangulated 4-link rear

    Axles:
-hp44 with 4.88's and spooled with chromos
-ford 9" with 4.88's--old= spooled, currie 9+ thrid member and daytona pinion support. (small bearing housing)
new= detroit locker (big bearing housing with better truss)
    Wheels and tires:
    -35x12.50 BFG MT's
    --current= 35x13.50 BFG Krawlers
-painted some stock cj wheels i got for cheap (weld-on beadlocks are coming)

    Steering:
    -well thats custom too.
    -PSC hydro assist steering box

    Random:
    -ARB Bull Bar
    -Hella 500's
    -wally world rock lights

Here are some pics of it after i just finished the axle swap:

    Rear 4-link:

    Front 3-link and crossmember:

I'll get some better pics later: steering and other stuff

thanks for checking out my rig. Hope its mallcrawlin worthy.

No. Claytons is not the defining style of suspension. It is a single radius arm setup with panhard. You only count the links you have, not including panhards or links that other people's rigs have.

Grey, I like the rig. Looks very purpose built. Good job on the rear suspension.

    thanks guys.

cam, how ya like the new 40's?

but it has 3 links attached to the axle not including the panhard. so how is it not a 3-link. its a radius arm on one side and one lower on ther other. i didnt want the normal radius arm style casue it binds and ive seen that set up shear bolts casue the oposing uppers fight each other. call it whatever you want. but it's better than any "4-link radius arm" ive seen. plus since i only have one upper i can use heims instead of bushings on the upper so i dont get axle wrap like most other set ups. only seen a few people try it so i figured why not. if it doesnt work the way i want then ill change it. thats the way building a rig goes.

technically for a true 3-link you want three frame mounts, as in two lowers, and one upper, all with their own mounts on both the axle and the frame.

true. but i wanted to minimize the amount of welding i had to do to the unibody. besides, i couldnt fit a upper frame mount (comfortablly) with 4"s of lift. so what is? i didn't remove an upper. i never had one. i built it like that. i cant afford to buy a kit to just take parts off.

The 40 LTBs rock. I recommend them to anyone who is fool enough.

A single radius arm with panhard bar setup is a legit design. I don't think anyone was questioning the quality of the design, just the what to call it. Kevin's old LA system was built that way, and I drove it up trails where it should have never been.

But for me to want to call something a true "link", it must locate the axle under the rig, be mounted off both the axle and the frame, and not fall into another category (i.e. panhard). So maybe we are splitting hairs, but we give things names to identify their characteristics, and a 4 link will behave much differently than a 3 link with panhard. ...which will behave differently than double radius arm setup or a single radius arm setup, etc.

yeah i know. always heard it called a 3-link radius arm so that what i called it but whatever works. basaically its a setup i wanted to try. dont care what its called. as long as it lets me get out and beat on my rig. thats what we build them for right?

paulkeith- im from sumter, sc but go to school in clemson.

haha. im down, whenever you want to. it rides so good now. but depending on how cheap you can get the d44 for, the 8.8 will be stronger.

Just gonna go the 8.8 and find one with 4.10s and help nick sell his 44 if he wants to, bolt in to a TJ with a limited slip in it he can probably get a good bit. Figured out the costs and would save alot just doing that. Have you wheeled it yet besides just driving through that place in pickens?

Derek im pretty sure he fabbed up his stiffeners. When ya gonna be heading back from break?

Paul: yeah, i go to wateree all the time so i got on 521 all the time.

Derek: thanks. i wanted to keep it low but its looking like i may have to lift it alittle more just for clearence issues. no they arent tnt stiffners. wish they were but i made them myself. was alot cheaper.

Ronnie: id see what you can find but a '96 and up explorer, if i recall right, had disc brakes and find one with 4.10's and then find a d30 out of a 4cyl xj so you can have 4.10's and high pinion. and never have to pay to regear. alot cheaper too. let me know if i can help.

well i flexed it out and did a few "hill climbs" for the first time today. to say the lease i was impressed. dropped and tucked like crazy compared to the short arms. but apparently limit straps and coil retainers are in order casue i dropped a rear coil and didnt realize it till i got to the top and saw my rear tire inside the fender. also i need to lift it a little more and finish my bumpstops casue 35's dont like 4" of lift. ill got a few pictures but i dont know how to get them off my new phone. ill try to get some others up later.
