Being that the 8.8" has an off center diff, should I center the truss on the pumpkin, or try to center on the whole axle? Either way I'll put the UCA tabs on the center line of the axle... but kinda curious what everyone else did.

I centered it on the axle.

I didn't have much choice as Clayton's has the tabs centered on the truss. So the truss is centered on the axle, not over the pumpkin.

Don't think it would matter as long as the tabs are centered.

Used tube on mine... two different radiuses (sp?) with one side longer than the other and then reinforced with a PS rock ring.

However next time I'll be making mine out of 4x4x.250 box I think... With Ty's kit you might want to do what Kraqa did for his D70. Just a flat plate of .250 ontop of the axle.

The perpose of you putting that truss on there is to have a central location for your upper arms to mount to. The logical spot to put that is the center of the axle so that when you bolt your arms up to it the axle is actually centered.

Well yeah, but if I put the truss centered on the diff, I could put the tabs off center on the truss, so it's in the center of the axle..

I don't think it will really matter if you center it on the axle or not so long as the links themselves are centered.

On a semi-related note, I was planning on using 2"x2"x0.25" box tubing for my truss.... Anyone see a problem with that? Think that should be sufficient? I feel pretty confident that I'll have enough weld area to hold up to the forces the UCAs might put on it, but I figured I'd see what kind of opinions you guys have.

Don't know if I'll center it over the diff or on the axle itself right now.
    I break stuff.

Hank, that's what the truss that Ty made is. Really I think 3/16" would be plenty even.

Thats what I did on Chase's Truss. Chase found some "free scrap" to make his truss, then I centered the mount on the truss.

This proves it. Not only is Chase an e-wheeler he is also an e-builder!

Mine is made from 15 some pieces of what used to be 6 inch wide 1/4 guage plate. Very low profile. Make it too tall and you will have floor pan interference.
