Yea it is getting close now.
Things left:
Pick up DOM tubing for steering
Pick up HP30 from shop putting in gears
I think that is about it before things can start getting bolted up, once it is at ride height I will need to measure for driveshaft work and limit straps.
I need to pick up another 8.8 u-joint flange also, but I think the guy who is doing my gears has one I can pick up.
Once Matt hears back from Tom Woods, I may pick up his driveshafts, if not I will have some made up locally. But will have to wait until the thing is at ride height.
Okay my accountant just finished my taxes this morning and has filed electronically, so the money will him my account on March 10th.
Best part is that I am getting more than enough to finish the Jeep and the wife has agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I will be at GSW and will be driving out!!!!!!!!!
That is great news Look forward to meeting you and the rest of these crazies!Originally Posted by Cue-Ball

You got it this is FANTASTIC news, I knew I was going to get some of the tax money to use, but did not know I was going to get to use that much.
I think the fact I caved in at home and let the wife get a dog last week helped, and it is my b'day on the 12th so it is rolled up in that also.
My wife did ask if I was going to break anything at GSW, I said "that's not the plan" hahaha.
I beter not break anything I can't afford to!!!
Well more bad news, the damn tranny is still kicking my ass.
I had it over at the shop again this week and picked it up today where my buddy told me it was good to go. Well I drive back to the office, park it for about an hour, then when I am walking out to go home I see a puddle of ATF on the ground.
I tell you this thing is really a bitch!!!
So anyway the guys that have been working on it lately are fellow Jeep guys at their shop and we did some horse trading for the work, and I know he is just as frustrated about it as I am, well not as much as me but you know. So he is basically done, he told me if it did leak still that it MUST be the case.
So tomorow I am calling a tranny shop where another buddy just had a 42/44RE Hybrid built 2 weeks ago and will be talking pricing with them.
Bottom line means I will be broke after a new tranny so the LA's and axles will most likely NOT be in for GSW.
So I think what I will do it trim the hell out of my fenders and TR bumpers so that the 32's on my BB don't destroy the body and will still head out to GSW, I just need to meet all you guys. I will just take it easy while I am there.
Well that is the plan today, will update after I get some info from the tranny shop.
Dirk
That really suck's
Okay here's the latest:
Placed the order for the custom built trans. It will be a 42/46RE hybrid. They are starting with a 46RE out of a 5.9 Dodge and taking all the internal stuff and putting in into a 42RE housing. They are installing Red Eagle clutches, complete shift kit, Kevlar bands, and a bunch of other crap that I had no idea what they are. They are also having a completly custom billet torque converter built, stock stall speed but with bigger clutches or something so it locks up faster and with more pressure. The 46RE has a 5 pinion gear set along with 5 planetary gears, so it is hardcore beef.
When I go down for the install in a week or two I will take the camera and get some pix of the 42RE parts compared to the 46RE parts, mine will be built already but they have a warehouse full of parts and pieces so I can get some good pix.
So stay tuned, more to follow.
Dirk,
You are going to like that tranny. Mine gets a check up, new deep pan (like yours), and refilled with Amsoil on Monday. I asked about getting some pics then. Todd said he'd see what he could scare up.
Jerry
I better like it Jerry or I'm coming after you.Originally Posted by I dig AU
I actually don't have that deep pan anymore, I sold that a while back, I do have a deep pan but it is a steel pan like the stocker just deep.
If you could get some pix that would be great, just email them to me dirkw@ccgnapa.com
Thanks.
Ya gotta catch me first. Stroker is coming together! Checking ring end gaps now. Crank is in, but have some minor issues getting the damper on the crank. Nothing some 320 grit can't fix. Guess I should start my own thread for this stuff!Originally Posted by Cue-Ball

Okay, spoke to the tranny shop and they should have my 42/46 Hybrid trans done on Friday, they are just waiting on the custom built torque converter.
So I will try to break off work one day next week to get it swapped in.
I might also be picking up a stroker engine in the next week or two, yea boy!!!!!!!!!!
If I do the stroker right now I will have to hold off a few more months on the LA and axle swaps (will need to keep the wife happy by cutting the spending for a little while, I am sure you all can relate).
I will keep you posted, I am about 99% sure I am going to buy the stroker, just need to check a few more details.
Dang man, I just gave him the money for it last night and the XJ is being torn down.Originally Posted by Cue-Ball
Just kidding man hope you can get it.
Okay just talked with the transmission shop and they are done with the tranny. I am scheduled for next Monday 3/27/06 to swap out my 42RE for the 42/46RE hybrid.
I will ofcourse have pix during the swap. I also have a few pix of some of the components but they are hard to tell how much bigger they are in the pix.
Okay I just committed to getting the stroker engine
I have the install of the stroker scheduled for April 8th.
I am waiting to hear back on some pricing of a Banks header, other than that going to keep it stock for now and research a little more on intake manifolds and throttle body sizes.
I tell you i can't wait the trans goes in on Monday and the engine 2 weeks later. I am totally stoked!!!!!
That's cool, So will you be able to sleep, over all this excitement.
So, which tranny shop did you ended up going to???
