Just a quick update, since I took yesterday off I spent a little time on the 14b and got the spring pads off. So now there are no more brackets on the thing. Looking very clean now.
Maybe next weekend I will pull the carrier out of the center section and get that all cleaned up.
Pretty much stuck in a holding pattern now until some $$$ comes around, but might be doing a side security job for a casino in the next couple of weeks so that might give me some extra $$ that I can order the spool, gears, and all the internal stuff.
SHIT,
The side job I had lined up that was going to cover my Vegas trip next month for the first WERock Event of the season, and some much needed 14b parts got cancelled this morning.
DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont know what your situation is but if you have a dryer outlet in your garage you can always wire a plug onto your aircompressor it should have an adiquate breakor. you can also wire it off of your stove also if either of those r close.
Well sounds like more time to work on the Jeep.Originally Posted by Cue-Ball

X2. Its always the little knick knack mods that take the longest. I have been working on my rig for the last 2 weeks quite intensely and the only purchases I have made are cut off wheels, paint, and electrical connectors!
The Evap is gone already, but I do need to hack the fenders out.
Truth is right now I am SO FUCKING busy at work I can't see straight.
I have worked every weekend this year already and done 2 all nighters (yes get in at 6:30-7am Thur. and leave between 4-5pm Fri.) Did it last Thursday and just got home a few hours ago from the 2nd 30+ hour shift, one week apart, I have to say I am freakin' tired.
The part that REALLY SUCKS.... I get paid salary so NOTHING extra when I do 30+ hour shifts. Sometimes I think I am really in the wrong business, luckily this is all I know how to do and I love it actually.
Dirk
what do you do for work. i remember some type of security or something?
I am the senior designer for a security consulting company, think of us as the architects of the security world. We do not install or sell any products, we just design and engineer large scale systems for airports (Sacramento, Seattle, BWI, Houston Hobby, John Wayne, etc), The Federal Reserve Banks (West Coast), eBay, Equinix Data Centers, etc. etc.Originally Posted by LouisianaZJ
We do alot of high tech companies, City/State and Government buildings and I have done alot of DoD work over the years.
The project that is killing us right now is for a water municipality here in the SF Bay area working for the Dept. of Homeland Security.
The reality is I LOVE my work, there are days that I don't like it but for the most part I really do enjoy it.
Although on the bad days I want to be a trash collector, no stress just pick up my truck in the morning, drive my route, drop off at the dump, turn in the truck and go home. Sounds pretty sweet to me sometimes. As the stuff I do now I take home with me and am never not thinkiing about work.
So not that I have rambled on I am going to get started on some work since I am in the office again today.
i looked a few pages back and so that mopar pan you had for yor 42 re, where did you get that?
mike
Okay I broke down and started doing a little trimming today. I only got the front drivers side done (need to pick up some morre cutoff wheels tomorrow to finish the pass. side).
I am not sure what I am going to cut in the rear but that will be getting hacked now also.
I need to be able to fit 33's under there with just by BB for a wheeling trip we have coming up in June.
Anyway here are some pix.
..Looks like you followed the first line on the fender..but went farther out on the bumper trim? whats up with that
i found that a jig saw with a metal cutting blade works great on body metal, very smooth lines
dont forget to trim down or hammer down that pinch weld that sticks out inside the fender
smooth lines arent legit
lol
looks good
looking good dirk.
the small shit is always the shit that hangs you up. if you have time tackle that first. it is much more rewarding once everything is installed and you dont' have to fuck around.
Nice Dirk.
Never thought I'd see any metal come off that thing.
BTW, 10LBS Sludge Hammer works great on the pinch weld. Especially if you got a good golf swing
I was trying to keep the metal on, but the reality set in that it will have to come off at some point and since I don't have the $$$ to build on my 14b or anything right now, doing this keeps me moving forward to some degree.
Well I got the drivers side all cut out last night. Now I need to deal with the rear.
I still may not be able to fit the 33's under there because I am using the stock control arms so I can not push the axles back any, but we will see on Sat. if the 33's will fit or not.
Once I am done with the rears I will be cutting out my rocker panels and adding some square tubing in their place.
I scored a free Lockrite for the D35 also, (thanks Jordan), and a free set of spare shafts for the D35 as well (thanks Chuck). So for little money I have a locker, larger tires, and some trimming.
SWEET deal I say, and it is forward progress on the project.
You should be able to fit 33s just fine.
I had less wheel base then stock and I didn't have a problem.
