Cant wait to see it complete, coilovers would be awesome.
isn't 5.38 gears a tad hardcore?
not if hes gonna run 38's
I have not decided on a final tire size yet, but they will be somewhere in the 38-42 range.
I have a contact over at Interco that I will be talking to at SEMA and I might end up giving a set of 39.5 Iroks a try, not sure yet though.
Nor am I sure what wheels, I was originally thinking H1's but if I go with 1 ton brakes up front the 16.5's might not clear, so I may end up going with some TR 17's, again I have time to figure all that stuff out, you all know how long it takes me to get my shit done.
The fact that I am tight with Dan over at BTF helps though on the pricing for his stuff.
Will keep you posted as this moves along.
Keepin it full body I trust Dirk?
Amen.
Don't be a moron. Axle gearing only helps on the street. So no not hardcore.Originally Posted by Jeeperoni91
Get the 16.5 wheels and run the stock front brakes and 3/4 ton in the rear. Plenty for a 38-42" tire.
I would advise against the 5.38's... Everyone I've seen that runs them destroys the pinion. Do a quick search on Pirate and you'll see what I mean. Some 5.13's would be just as good, especially if you're gonna have some lower gears in the transfer case.

Well after seeing the pix of AW's beast over the weekend I was inspired to get my ass moving on my full width's.
So I started stripping down my 14b. All I really got accomplished was popping the cover to take a look inside and drain out any remaining lube, and stripped the drum brakes off of the pass. side. This weekend I will get the other drum brakes off and start grinding off the stock brackets.
I still need to pop the bearings out of the hubs and I need to get the whole thing cleaned up, there is dirt and grease and grime all over the freakin' thing.
I have not yet stripped the gears or pinion out, I want to leave that to make sure I fully understand the gear set up before gutting the pumpkin and having no reference point to start from.
So stay tuned, but don't be holding your breath for anything fast, mine is going to take AWHILE.....
Don't forget to take pic's, good to see you back at it.Originally Posted by Cue-Ball

Sorry i will get some tomorrow I worked on it today and got the other drum brakes off and was able to grind off the shock mounts, so it is starting to look pretty good.
I will get some pix up tomorrow for sure.
Dirk
I am being a bit lazy so here is a link to the 14b pix. I will resize them and post them here on Tues.
These are with the wife's new 5.1 megapixel camera.

Im sure you can sell those brakes. Yours look like they are in decent condition, mine were oil soaked.
Also my backing plate flange is different than yours.
Hope thats not a big deal...
I was going to ask you if you thought I could sell the brakes or not. Might post them up on CL and see what happens.
Yea yours is a little different but looks like they are probably in the same locations.
Say do you know what the sizes of the F911 bolts you used for yours were? If you had a list that would save me having to measure them all.
The spring pads are also stamped and not cast.Originally Posted by Cue-Ball
