    STROKER BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well we finished up the stroker today and goddamn it is SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will get pix up in the next day or so.

I have to thank AW for the extra effort he put into replacing the main bearings, and staying at the shop late last night so it would be ready to drop in this morning.

I also need to thank violatedppl for having hands small enough to reach up to the two bottom intake manifold bolts, with the Edelbrock header there was not way AW or I could get the bolt started.

Now for the good stuff, it runs strong, no chance of ever being called a 4.slow again, this thing pulls hard all the way up to 90+mph. There is a little hesitation if I floor it from a stand still, this is probably related to the worn cap/rotor and fact I have a stock TB still (a 62mm will be ordered on Monday) and cap/rotor and plugs will be picked up and installed tomorrow.
It runs right at 180*, never moved past that for the 1.5 hour drive home from the shop.

I have to say I still have a smile on my face from the drive home, can't wait to get the TB and all the "tune-up" stuff dialed in.

In a couple of weeks I will be heading down to the trans shop to check in with them on the new trans and to tweak it based on the stroker, then I will be dialed!!!

For all you Bay Area guys, I am planning a BBQ up by Lake Berryessa on 6/24/06, so be sure to mark your calendars.

Well got the tune up stuff done yesterday and it runs alot smother now. I need to order a set of plug wire though, what are you other guys running for wires. I am currently running the Magnacore ones, but some of the boots are cracked so I need to order a new set. Dino runs the Splitfire ones, any other opinions?

The other question is what TB are you guys running? I think I am going to stick with just a 62 for now but want to find the cheapest one I can. Also Dino is running a TB spacer anyone else running one?

So I did some 0-60 times (not super accurate just on a level stretch of road by the house with a stopwatch).

With the 4.slow times were in the 13-14 sec. range
With the 4.6 they are in the mid 9's.

Once I get the plug wires, throttle body and the trans tweaked I plan to make a few dyno runs, unfortunately I was not able to get dyno runs with the 4.slow but oh well.

We sucked at taking pix on Sat. but here are a few anyway.

looks sweet! I have a spacer but only b/c I basicly stole it off ebay for 15 shipped keep in mind that if you get a spacer it will also raise the Turbocity intake and inch also... so the little tab on the bottom of the intake will not sit on the valve cover. also if you do get a spacer make sure that it comes with longer bolts and the spacers to raise the linkage also.

but basicly unless you get it real cheap don't bother the larger tb will make more difference

Yea the spacers are going for about $40 shipped from ebay.

What about TB's are the ones on ebay any good? There are some there for under $100 shipped.

Okay how about a little tech in this thread.

Things we had to "massage" to get everything to fit:
    • Had to clearence the drivers side motor mount as the Edlebrock header was touching the mount
    • When we installed the intake manifold there are two ears on the lower side that position around some dowels in the block, well we had to chop those off as they were hitting the header flange and would not allow the intake to sit flat agains the block.
    • The engine is a 92 block and on the 92 block timing cover there is a cylindrical timing mark sight tube, well again out came the grinder as it was interfering with the serpantine belt.
Other than that most everything was plug and play.

A couple of words of advice though:
    1. When building up an engine be ABSOLUTELY Sure that you install the main caps the correct way. Remember we found a bad main bearing on day one of the swap, well once we got the new main bearings in and went to pull the old ones out we found (well AW found) that not one BUT two of the main bearing caps were installed 180* out, this caused end play in the crank and toasted the #3 bearing (2 and 3 caps were backwards)
    2. When unbolting all the stuff off the exiting engine it is a good idea to take some extra time and put the nuts, bolts, screws, ect. in ziplock bags and label them so you know what goes where. We thought it would be a quick one day deal so we just started unbolting and putting all the bolt in a pile, but since it was not until the next weekend things started going back together it took extra time to sift through the pile and try to remember where everything was and where exactly it went.
We obviously got everything back together and only had a few left over bolts, but it would have been easier if things were a little more organized.

Another thing I have noticed is that according to the over head console computer my mpg has increased from the average 15mpg to 19-20mpg, how can you complain about that, TONS more power and a 30% increase in mpg!!!!

I also needed to say THANKS to Jordan (DJJORDACHE) for shipping out the tranny kickdown cable so fast so that I had it to replace BEFORE the engine got dropped in.
