WELP... decided to stop fawkin around and do it right. Currently its at my house starting to get stripped a bit and waiting to gather up everything i need to start rebuilding.

So far, FF14b w/5.12's, full detroit and 8 bolt rear disc converted, ready for tri-link (dunno if thats staying). Matching front 8 bolt HP44 needing cleaned up, 5.12's and an OX locker. Hummer beadlocks are layin there and my old Ramsey RE series winch.

Debating now if i want to try to coilover it, or just use the stock RE lift for now. If i do, i'll need tha bracket kit.

Doing it right would be a 60 front to go along with that 14b rear.

maybe if i had billiyons of dollars laying around i would do that. I got both axles for $600, so im happy. If a front d60 HAPPENS to come along, trust me i'll hop on it like Jackson on boys.

Good to see you finally started it. What are you doing for a new front crossmember?

I am probably going to keep the stock RE stuff under there and branch off it a bit. Its designed better than anything I could mock up and not worth me pulling it all off to create something that is going to be similar to it anyway.

The front will definitly be really focused on b/c I want to definitly 4 link with the opposing triangulated upper and lower arms. A buddy of mine is just getting done with his CJ thats 4 linked front and rear from a design through Avalanche. I'll probably take notes from that and then see what I can do with this uni-body bullshite. thats still a lil ways away though....

ALSO! this past weekend another friend of mine's father is selling a 79 f250 with a hp60 in the front. My question is what do u think its worth? He wants to sell the whole truck, so i'll have the rear also to sell. or....i'll take that 60 out and put the hp44 i have under it to make it complete again. So, for now i just want opinions on what its worth.....I dont want to pay too much for this thing. Thanks guys.

You might want to reconsider 4-linking that front. I've yet to meet anyone who did it working around the V8 oil pan who didn't regret it to some extent.

As far as the F-250 goes, it's worthless. Give it to me. I'll expect it in my backyard within the hour.

welp, the clearance issues are definitly something I was told about. I'll definitly have to re-route the exhaust, and if i have to notch the pan for where the arms come up, then i will.

My plan with the 39.5" Iroks is that i'll have to limit the uptravel anyway, so hopefully its not going to be the biggest problem i'll have.

I was also going to run the idea of making the upper arms come together at the crossmember and go out to the ends by the springs. Im still getting educated in this, so i dont know if that is something I can feasibly do or not. I'll probably need more help on that idea.

.............ya, im sure that f250 is worthless.......which is why im disclosing NO details b/c its MINE!

I've wheeled it enough on the 36" iroks with a stock front 30. Actually only broke 1 shaft on them. The only other thing was the front driveshaft would come apart at the slip since it was so high. thats when i pulled it in and started arranging a buildup

yea, and your new front isn't substantially stronger.

do what you want, but a D44 won't hold up to 39.5" tires, especially locked, no mater how you justify it.

well....i was going to chance it until i posted up about finding this ford with a HP60 front axle and how much its worth. Even with the d44, it can be built up enough that i think it could take it....but if i can get this 60, then away i'll go!

sweet, hope you get it. Make sure it's the newer (78 and up I think) style with the bigger u-joints, if not it's just a D44 with less clearance

You can't do 4 link in the front unless you do full hydro

*edit* You can do 4 link in the front without full-hydro (using a drag link and all of that good stuff) but if you do I guess you're just a huge fan of bumpsteer.

Unless you do your steering correctly and get the DL flat.

    i love it!

I was going to worry about steering after i got all the suspension done. I kinda figured i'd have to go full hydro, and with that i'm going to have to figure out how to tame it for some on-road use. Im not too worried.

I know quite a few guys running ful hydro on the street w/o issues. The key to a safe setup for street use is to get a small ram and big pump, so the system is relatively responsive. I'm in the process of rebuilding an old scout 800 for my dad right now (he's been w/o a wheeling rig for about 3 years, and that's 3 years too many IMO) anyway, going full hydro on it and it's been an interesting learning experience.....

I have had mixed emotions on the front 4 link....but i think my thing is, i take just as much pride/joy/fun in building the thing as i would driving it....maybe more even.

With that, i'd like the challange of trying to make it work. sure there is probably going to be an obsene(fawk my spelling) amount of work involved, along with long nights, many cases of beer, and long strung out cursing sentences.....but i think its worth it. even though all you haters b hatin
