Got the under frame rail gussets done along with the fuel cell girdle. Need to finish the mods to the fuel cell done and have it welded up.
Chad
A few more.
i liek the kraqa style frame gussets but wheres the speed holes?
You mean tie down holes? Don't have any dimple dies so I saw no point to them. Considering I am going to build a basket where the seats once were to tie shit to.
Chad
Don't you need some rubber or something in between the tank and the metal frame? I can't see from the pics if you used something there or not. But I assume the tank is aluminum and if you bolt it right to the steel frame, won't it oxidize or corode? Usually in aluminum vehicles they make a big effort to make sure that steel parts have a rubber piece seperating them from direct contact with the aluminum.
I think I see a pad between the girdle and fuel cell in post #303, pics 3 and 4.
In AZ I can't imagine there is too much rain or water crossings to provide the electrolyte. Other areas of the goble, yeah it may corrode more rapidly.

Yes the rubber pad is from the OE straps. The girdle will be painted.
Look ma more gussets.
A few more...
Tied the rear upper frame side control arm mounts to the cage, painted the frame rails and painted the cell girdle with one whole can of spray on bedliner. The finishes turned out really nice. Had to use a chemical paint remover to take the paint off the top of the rear upper frame side control arm mounts to allow for welding. Starting to near completion on the "chassis" mods.
After assembling all my Russell fitting numbers to do fuel pump line extensions, I found an off the shelf rubber hose solution. Replace the plastic with 5/16" ID rubber line for both the feed line and return line. After the filter on the feed line 3/8" ID to the pump. Couple of clamps and all should be golden. Hope to pick up the cell next week.
Hope to start tackling the axles soon.....

shit chad looks great!
You cage tie in's are in the same spot as mine.
Coming together nicely.
What front axle are you running HP D60?
Yes HP60 front and a 14b rear. Good combo and almost the same width front to rear. I have to pull the rear 8.8, sell and go buy coil overs for the rear.Originally Posted by ILikeMud

LOL does that light pulse to the music?Originally Posted by chadjans
and can you have it mounted sideways like that?
I guess it doesnt' matter, I think it's Justin that has wrapped around the tube on the TR bumper. THat thing is all fawked up. Tuna twat is looking great Chad!
Vertical on my trailer. Have to match that. Don't really care, just running it for the sake of running it. Off road only. The frame was a Checker Auto Parts Clearence table find. 10 bucks if memory serves me correctly.

Picked up the fuel cell today. Got it bolted in and ready to finish the fuel pump plumbing. Also painted and edge lined the rear fender. I really like the way this is coming along. Going to spend the next few days calculating what it weighs so I can source the coil overs.
Chad
Got the fuel lines run, fuel filter mount welded to the crossmember and the filler neck bolted on.
Chad
OMG Dave's first post in my thread...... I am speachless.
Neon green if I recall correctly.
