What's everyone running for shocks these days? My old RE twin tubes are about done, looking for something a bit nicer. I've got 4.5" coils up front, same in back plus like a 1" puck to accommodate for all the crap I carry in the back. Clayton's long arms. Pretty much setup for minimal up travel with 35's.
Based on what I think I have on there now, I'm about 17" compressed and 28" extended front and back.
I'd like at least Bilstein, but Fox is pretty freaking sweet too. Mostly basic trail riding and rocks, but I do like going fast when I can too.
I put Bilsteins on the back of mine last year, but haven't had it off road yet to test. Really only drove it from my house to the gas station and then to get emissions tested, but from what I could feel on-road they made a huge difference. I blew out several BDS shocks so I figured it was time to upgrade.
I have Bilsteins and like them. However, Pat has fox socks with remote reservoirs and coming down Engineer pass last summer my shocks were to hot to touch and you could keep your hands his. We were not flying down either, just a bumpy road drive. If I need shocks I think I would spend the money on the fox or similar. His are valved for the Grand too.
Some external res shocks could have made the drive down the switchbacks on PSM a bit smoother too! It looks like Fox makes external res for the front on the Grand, but their application guide doesn't show any for the rear.
Hey Dave, I have some remote reservoir Fox shocks for the rear of my WK (4” lift). They were too stiff for me, so I replaced with Bilsteins. If you want to try them out on your ZJ, you’re welcome to them.
If those don't work for Dave I'd be interested.
EDIT: I just remembered I have a pair of new Bilsteins in the garage. They are long, I was going to try them in my ZJ if I went to the angled setup in the rear. If I can find them easy I will get the numbers.

Okay, extended length is 28”, exposed shaft is 10.5”, so I’m guessing compressed length is roughly 18”.
I don’t really need anything for them, plus you may not like the ride. If you want to pay me for them, just contribute what you feel they’re worth to a ‘wheeling charity.
When do you want them?
Fair enough! The next week is a bit busy for me, sister is getting married this coming Saturday. I can just swing by sometime after that, or if you're over in my neck of the woods for something (Southglenn/HR area) just let me know.
im not sure the model f them. but i would see if the shocks can be opened up. if so just revalve the.
