Tyler, John and I are planing on running the wheeler lake trail on 9/23/17. We tried earlier this season but there was still too much snow to make it to the top.

The trail starts at Montgomery Reservoir, above Alma, CO (outside of Fairplay, off 285). You might catch a glimpse of the cast of Gold Rush as they mine the gold fields near Alma.

Count us in as definite maybe's. We'd leave the JK at home, but I want to get the ZJ out some more this season and Wheeler is one of my favorites.

Has anyone else been up there recently? I was thinking of running it the weekend before, 9-16. Last time I was there the top of the hill was rutted real bad and I don't think I'd make it on 32s.

EDIT: The 23rd might work too.

Keith and I ran Wheeler the end of July. The top of the hill near the parking area/turn around at the lake is rutted up from the usual douche nozzles that feel the need to screw up the tundra by going off trail. Shouldn't have any issue going up on 32s though, we didn't encounter any challenges that were out of the ordinary.

I have some pending maintenance items too, rear main seal. I dont think I will get it fixed in time. So it will be smoke signals from me going up the passes on 285.

I am half tempted to camp on TC Friday night. Take a late drive out after work. Then meet people on the top of Kenosha Pass. Checking on schedule for that.

Pretty sure we're out. Pam ended up having to travel for work all this week and all next week and we were on vacation all last week. Too much adulting that we need to do to have time to go wheeling.

I'm out too. I discovered a crack in one of the mounting ears on my steering box, and wasn't able to get the Waggy 4-bolt box swapped in on Sunday. Stupid Pittman arm is requiring more persuasion. And I'm traveling all week for work, getting home around 6pm Friday night. Sorry guys. I was looking forward to it.

Yes we are still a go for wheeler lake. Generally we've met at "The Fort" (off Hwy 285) for trips up that way, but I'm not 100%.

We camped and ran Wheeler on July 31st. Rained the night before but was great weather when we ran the trail. I have been wondering if things changed with the snow the mountains had last week, however according to a trip report on CO4x4 it looks great.

I figured you would meet at The Fort, but what time?
