I figured I would post this question in this section since I'm doing an 8.8 swap. Ok, I have an 8.8 with 4:10 gears in it and I plan buy a dana 30 with the same gears as the 8.8. How do the 4:10s move 33s with the 4.0?
It will do fine as long as you don't spend much time on the highway going up hills or towing anything. If you do, you'll really want 4.56s.
I ran 33's and 4:10's for 2 years, it was fine. I have a V8, if you have a I6, it will be a dog on the road but in 4-low it will be ok. I went to 4.56 for 35's, but I'm going to 5.13's for my next axle build (35's or 37's).
Also the 4.56 gears for a D30 have a tiny pinion, so 4.10's will be stronger.
ditto.
I was on 35s and 4.10s and dropped to 33s and 410s, my reasoning is I would rather be locked with 33's than open on 35s. my 4.7L stroker helps in the power dept =).
my old 35" BFG AT's were lower on tread vs my new MT MTZP3 33's I only lost about 1/4" height TOPS with the new tires.
