A little hairy?!?!?!? Just watching the video of that spot makes me pucker. And having the spotter talking on the phone definitely adds a whole nother level of difficulty to that.

Oh, the irony (label on the pan - Less Mess Drain Pan)... it's must be a JK thing, cuz I don't understand
just like clockwork, oil change every 3000 miles, motel 6 parking lot, Auburn, CA - didn't spill a drop
https://goo.gl/maps/ZgRWAeBeS7n
and yes they cleaned up the oil spill, it's california, they put you in jail for less
and what good is an oil change if you're not gonna scrub off 3000 miles worth of multi state road grime and bug guts, 'ya gotta be lookin' your best when you tackle the 'con
then it was off to Georgetown to do some exploring

Absolutely epic trip Ron. Quite impressive that you did all of that wheeling in the rig you drove the whole way too.
I was just in Ouray 2 weeks ago and your pics are make me itch to go back. Your pics chronicle too how quickly the weather can change at the top of those passes. We had snow at the top of Black Bear, beautiful weather going down into Telluride, and then by the time we made it back up on top of Imogene it was 30 degrees with 50+ mph winds.
Looking back at it Dave, I'm kinda amazed I made it through unscathed. I was determined to check this one off my bucket list. I don't know what was more taxing, running the interstate up through the Rockies or the long extended hill climbs on the open highway. Three Sisters Mountains on Interstate 80 westbound outside Evanston, Wyoming was tough. Constant 35+mph headwinds and the long climb were brutal in the ZJ. I had the cabin heater going to keep the engine temps down. My heep doesn't have AC which added to the pain especially in northern Nevada. Perseverance or insanity, not sure which one accurately describes this adventure, but I would do it again in a heartbeat

I did, I do, I will!I knew when I was building it (and trying to reuse most the new parts on XJ) that it was too much rig for my needs.. but I couldn't bring myself to part another good rig. Sold it to a local Jeepers wife.. relax, not yours!Sold the Roof Top Tent..Bought another ZJ, from a best bud and i'v been wrenching on this since 40K miles. Bought two Coleman Colorado pop up campers to build one good one over this winter. Canyonlands, Valley of the Gods, Swinging Steak, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, North Rim Grand Canyon next fall.. If I then don't make it.. it's time for a Vette.
cool side story..

It just so happens that Ben was the guy who repaired my drag link at Rubicon Springs. His shop, Verozza 4x4 Outfitters located in Diamond Springs, CA was the shop contracted by JJUSA to provide repair services at the 2016 Rubicon event.
chattin' with Ben's wife in the waiting area
