Moab has gone thru some monumental growth since I was last there in 2016. Corporations are taking over the hotel sector.
The Redstone was sold 7 weeks ago to a corporation and the rates were immediately raised to 169.99 a night.
Plan ahead if you are going to spend time in town and be prepared to shell out some $$$ for decent accommodations.

i was half tempted to run out to the confluence to give the wife a peek, but decided not to chance it solo in 115+ degree temps.
still had a xlent time cruising the southern section of canyonlands np
i was hiking this wash by myself and bumped into a guy from Pittsburgh who was traveling the US in his beat down classic toyota corolla. small world

Nice to see you and the Mrs made it out..
I head west on May 6th.. be gone a month.
Had a blast! Finally made it out there after all these years of trying..
Roughly 8k miles total, lots of gate closures due to snowpack but knew that going into it. Visited RMNP, Grand Tetons, YNP. Daughter rode out with me, rented a VRBO on the Yellowstone river in Paradise Valley for 11 days just prior to the flooding. Wife and two other children flew in/out of Bozeman. Late May is the time to visit Yellowstone if the goal is wildlife, 13 Grizzly, 12 blackbear, 2 wolves and plenty of other wildlife.. including deer and elk in the yard. Fly fishing from the back yard with those views was worth every cent.
When i dropped the wife and two daughters off in Bozeman, my son Gary and i head down to Moab.. finally made it! Canyonlands was the goal.. stopped in to grab a permit for White Rim which you know was bucket list for me. Ranger offered us a site that popped up, Hardscrabble A.. we jumped on it. Following am we entered via Shafer with the WK2 Overland.. and i'll be the first to admit i was surprised with the terrain once i hit Murphy's hill. Wasnt expecting ungraded loose hill and tight narrow shelf road to the extent it was. But from Murphy's on it's a much more entertaining drive. Spent the night along the Green river and head out the next morning. Glad i finally got to run it..
Moab itself is more developed than i had thought, and there were people and SxS everywhere. I had planned to run in to Brides Canyon and spend a few days.. but by judging by all the SxS and talking to a few i had the impression all 5 sites were being occupied. We bailed..
Instead of running back into Colorado.. and the closed gate at RMNP, we opted to head further south. Hit Mexican Hat and dinner at the Swinging Steak, another bucket list item, then to Monument Valley and Grand Canyon. From there we hit 40 east and visited Nashville on the way home.
Never turns out as we originally plan, especially that time of year but the priority was on the family seeing YNP and the Teton's. They had a great time, and were looking to book another trip for 2023.Unfortunately the home we rented was damaged a few weeks after our return by the flooding..
Sorry Sudz, i dont have pics on the pc right now but i'll swing in and drop a few another time. Pick up the phone and give me a shout.. been awhile.
Hey John,
Glad you finally made it out and had an awesome time!
I pointed out a few post ago that MOAB has definitely grown and feels a bit commercialized especially with all the big chain hotels lining 191 heading south into town.
Did you manage to grab a photo at this spot made famous by a movie in Monument Valley?

Time to start planning the next big adventure!
BTW, I factory ordered a '22 Hydro Blue JLUR on March 12th. I finally took delivery on Thursday July 21st.
I still have the '19 Mojito! and my Challenger. (and my 4-door Tahoe) I'm going to let the '95 ZJ go if you know anyone who is interested. She's a beast.
some glam shots, 250 miles on the odo
