This trip was amazing. A lot of really cool stuff happened to us on the trip out and back. I met Danny Thompson (Mickey Thompson's son) at the Bonneville Salts Flats the day prior to him breaking his dad's record. (see link)
We talked about how the MTZs were developed. Danny was a real gentleman and I had a great conversation with him.

That is one hell of trip!
Nice....Looks like you had fun. Glad to know you rolled through town and never called to meet up. I could have come out to the salt flats in 2 hours from where I live.
left early a.m. Sun Aug 7th - returned home Sat Aug 20th around 5:30p.m. (logged 6127 miles roundtrip) with no AC
Nevada was hot
We hit MOAB too. My travel buddies were running a 2009 JKUR.
I-80 westbound in Wyoming sucked big time. Steady 35mph headwind kicked my ass especially on the hill climbs.
My mileage total for the trip is 6127. My odometer now reads 208187.

The gangster's I ran the Rubicon and camped with: L to R. Jason & Sandy from Texas. Sal Sr. & Sal Jr from Jersey. We had a blast! Couldn't ask for a better posse to hang with.
chow line serenade
I hope this guy washed his hands
Campsites were first come / first serve as you exit the 'con - we nailed it with easy access by footpath to the main site at Rubicon Springs and a short walk to the lake. Yup, I did the swing too.
flying in and out for supplies including replacement parts for busted rigs
taking on Cadillac Hill Sunday morning
Are we there yet? Exiting the Rubicon..I think
At last, the staging area on the Tahoe side of the Rubicon. We aired up, re-connected our disco's and started heading eastbound.

Rubicon Springs Garage. "You Bust 'em, We Fix 'em"
Here's my story.
I wheeled all day, mostly self guided. I get to Big Sluice and there are 3 main obstacles. The 1st is a boulder climb, the 2nd is a squeeze between two boulders, and the 3rd is a combo squeeze/climb. On the 3rd, the spotter had me do a blind 3 point turn and put me on a stump which I never saw. As I backed off I heard a large bang. He joked that I broke his stump. As I proceeded down Big Sluice my steering wheel felt whacked. I got out and noticed my drag link was bent. Needless to say I was super pissed. I got to Rubicon Springs and talked to Corey Osborne explaining his spotter bent my dl and I have a 3100 mile drive home. All said & done, JJUSA installed a new drag link, adjusting sleeve and tie rod end at the pitman arm with a crude front end alignment. They charged me $40. I can't complain. All good on my end. I drove home on it.
