So I put a Taurus fan in with relays. This works great.
    But my battery died.
I check and find 1.6 amps drain everything with off, key off.
After much checking, removing fuse number 7 (in the kick panel) drops the current to 0.25 amps which I am told is high but acceptable.
    Fuse #7 is the BCM.
Also the battery has died several times over extended none charge times in the last 3 months.
5 years ago the headlamp auto dim started working intermittently.
During my fan install the overhead lights stopped going out they are always on, but the VIC does not show a loose door. I pulled their connector.

Any ideas how to further verify/test the BCM?
Any other ideas on what to check.
If I pull the BCM fuse is the car driveable or what stops working?

I don't know if it's any help or not, but I seem to recall that when I had battery drain issues it was caused by the sensor for the flip glass on the hatch. I don't know if that's applicable to your ZJ or not or if that is tied into the BCM circuit but it might be worth a shot.

    Remind me about "bcm"?
My power drains were so bad that a freshly charged high end battery would die in a day and have been from fuses 2 and 8 and I pulled 1 at some point (don't remember what for) and so far aside from no interior lighting nothing has any "extra" issues and the power drains are gone

So I am coming but no jeep . It will be great to see everyone again.
I will get a BCM and repair when back.

I did find a free copy of the 1996 factory service manual in PDF.

There isn't time to grab a BCM from a yard and give it a try?

Have you had any issues with interior lights staying on?

There are switches on the back of each of the door key cylinders (driver, passenger, rear hatch) that are a common failure point. The BCM will sense the cylinder rotating and turn on the interior lights via a relay. Also check the two door pin switches and the two sensors on the latches in the tailgate and lift glass. These also tell the BCM to activate interior lights.

If any of these switches/sensors are bad you can just unplug them to get them to an inactive state.

You could just pull the negative battery cable when parking it overnight too.

Debated that but if something got worse we did not want to get stranded.

What year and motor do you have? I can pull one from my 95 4.0L. I don't know if motor matters.
