Those spring compressors scare the crap out of me. I will disconnect anything and everything I have to in order to avoid using those. I've used the clamshell style before and while they are a touch better, I still prefer to just unhook a shock or something easy and droop it out.

Ignition parts came in while I was out of town. Cap, rotor, and plugs installed so far. Debating how much time I want to spend cleaning up the valve covers and associated parts and if I want to install them tonight or not.

Here's what an original distributor cap with 165k on it looks like.

    And the rotor

Spring compressors are the devil, right up there with Hi-Lifts - they scare the crap out of me too. I don't tend to need them with ZJs, especially now with my Claytons, but I've had to use them on a couple WJs, even after disconnecting as much as I felt like fighting (trackbar would have done the trick on Bridget's, but I didn't want to wrestle a near-stock height rig to get it hooked back up).

I've never seen a 20 year old cap and rotor. My stock cap lasted about 17 years, but the stock rotor disintegrated 200 yards from the entrance to Sand Flats

I drove through a puddle. 45 minutes later no gauges. Get to the end of the trail Windows wont go up. Get it in the garage at home start wiggling connections trying to find the problem now the skim system does not recognize the key so the Jeep won't run. WJ hell.

So I have a female friend with pit tickets to Korn and Rob Zombie. She is giving me one of the tickets to drive her to the concert because she drinks and I don't. Although I do not need to impress the girl because we are just friends I do not want to repulse her with the unique smell of mud and fast food bags that my ZJ has acquired over the years. So this happened.

And to stay on topic, replaced the hinge pins and adjusted the latch on the driver door so the door actually shuts. Currently trying to replace the O2 sensor. I couldn't fit my hand anywhere even close to the wiring harness so Pam's under there right now trying to get it loose. May just cut the wires off the old one and splice them in to the new one.

Thanks to the help of John and Tyler I was able to get the new steering stabilizer and johnny joint bushings installed in the front end. Hopefully this will cure the death wobble that sprung up on the return trip from Moab.

My Jeep hates me. Came out to find a green puddle. Its dripping off the harmonic balancer, so I can only guess its coming from the weep hole in the water pump. I ordered up a new water pump, upper, lower and bypass hoses. I forgot the fricken bypass hose and had to put in a separate order, hopefully all the parts arrive by Friday so I can wrench on the long weekend.

Wouldn't hurt to throw a new radiator cap at it too if you haven't done that in a while. Mine being almost 15 years old certainly didn't help the issues I was having in Moab.

I cleaned mine out, adjusted the door strikers so the doors open and shut like they should, and then packed it up for Ouray. Cleaned off the underside a bit with some degreaser too, it was nasty down there. Took it out on the highway for about 20 miles too just to make sure everything is working right. The fan clutch I got in Moab didn't seem to be disengaging so I snagged another one, and that one doesn't seem to disengage either. Not sure if it was just my old ass fan clutch spinning too freely or what, but I don't seem to ever remember it staying fully engaged all the time.

Put a new fan clutch on our DD 04 and it stays engaged way more than I thought it would, but it does let go eventually.

Need to order some iro rear springs as well these are kinda soggy...

Over the weekend I put in some serious work.

Swapped my good power steering pump on to my modified braket, figured out how to relocate the idler pully, found a factory GM belt the right length.

Pulled the drive train, installed a new flywheel and clutch kit, looked up the slave/ master up to the trans and the pedal seems to operate properly.

Bolted the drivetrain back together and shoved it between the frame rails, hooked up all the wires and fuel line and got to fire the engine up for the first time!
Didn't even have headers or cooling so only ran it a few seconds but all seems well!

I installed new leather from a 98 limited the other day.

I reflowed the solder on my haunted headlight switch which now works flawlessly last night. Tonight I am replacing my year old Dorman door hinge pins and bushings with the same junk because they have a lifetime warranty and Mopar bushings are $10 each at the dealer.

New to the forum.... figured, I'd start here....

    This past weekend, removed this:
    [IMG][/IMG]

    And finally swapped this in:
    [IMG][/IMG]

Nothing special. Although, I neglected to get wheelwell height before and after. I hadn't thought about the tube diameter difference, and th spring perch height above the tube. It jacked the rear, just not sure how much.

Either way, breaking in the new gears and locker, then to figure which bushing or JohnnyJoint is clunking up front....

And while I was up there I did some bar pin shock bushings

Installed a York. Really tight squeeze, had to chop out a bit of hood bracing and move the battery a bit. Frankenstein rad hose. Now I have air and winch plug in passenger slot of grill. I put the oba switch there as well.

    Got pic's?

I had a york/OBA on my old Cherokee Chief, loved it. It would be awesome to be able to run one on the 5.2L.
