I am replacing my 2001 4.7 54re, 247 entirely,
the motor is toast and most the parts are old but work, the trans was rebuilt by a less than reputable company 2 years ago and clanks like hell shifting (possible tcase issue) the 247 seems to have a ton of play but operates.
basically just want want to get rid of everything and can maybe help someone out with spare parts of cheap replacements.
the pwr steering pump only has like 2000 miles.
the coil packs have a week on them
water pump is a few years old,
the hydro fan is also going, the shroud is chopped up but I'm sure someone wants that solenoid
I also have a trans cooler that is nearly brand new
edit:
247 is not available
coils gone
fan gone

I am very interested in the 247. The fan and coils packs as well. What do you want for them?
Is the engine a serviceable core? I might be interested for a rebuild, mine is not salvageable.
I don't know for sure, it does run as is just very poorly (bad head gasket 99.99% sure) probably warped heads too, if your rebuilding it I would imagine it's fine.
Honestly, I'm starting to run out of space and don't need it, I will GIVE it to you without accessories.
Ben, I talked with Tyler a bit tonight about your situation and I have to agree with his assessment of the situation. While an LS swap would be bad arse, I think your overall time and monetary investment would be less finding a WJ with a good powertrain and swapping your parts over.
Well for that price how can I say no? When can I come pick it up?
I've been told that by a good number of people, or just ditching the grands all together.
I agree with you on all counts, but the engine is actually less of an annoyance than the trans... I hate auto. My plan is to put an NV4500 behind the 5.3 (granny 5spd)
I think we've all seen AP's 5 spd and for the cost and labor of putting the manual behind the 4.7 I would be getting close to having 150+ extra horse by swapping everything.
And I really don't have many parts in the dub worth swapping over. It's just on stock axles and 33's with short arms, I'm not sure there is anything currently in it I plan on keeping other than all the chopping ive done to the chassis.
Have you wheeled a manual a lot?? Generally people prefer the auto. I know they have their drawbacks, but for any trail with any challenge I would much prefer the auto.
I haven't wheeled too much with a stick but I enjoyed it much more when I did and that vehicle didn't even have very low Gears. I fully expect it to limit me a bit off road but if I enjoy what I can do more then it's worth it. Plus first in an nv4500 is like 6.38-1 pr something crazy.
