'95 - ZJ with 5.2l v8
Everything I've read online and in the Haynes manual suggests that the timing marks should line up with each other - CAM @ 6 o'clock, Crank @ 12 o'clock; however, when I got into the timing cover, I found that they line up at 12 o'clock for both:
I'm getting ready to swap this out and just wanted to make sure I'm setting this correctly. Engine runs 'fine' with this setup, so I'm planning on just placing the new gears back on in the same positions.
Is my plan valid??
Here's the new gears:
uhmmm they should be pointing at each other. Cam 6 o'clcock crank at 12. You might want to crank the motor around to top dead center for cylinder one(Drivers most front plug), then pull the distributor cap and make sure it's on #1 cylinder on the cap. Second thing are you cranking the motor around to top dead center on cylinder 1 when your makes are like you are saying, both at 12 o'clock?
