What kind of steering pump issues are you having?

    i have had many issues.

one was dealing with a leaking PS pump res. then the variable steering steering box shitting the bed. Then i put in a normal steering box and the pump couldn't keep up. SO i swapped to a normal pump, but it leaked at the res. so i swapped it for another and it leaked too.

so i'm getting a NEW pump and putting it in. I should have it dealt with this weekend.

Holy moly! Good luck with the new pump! I can only imagine how anxious you must feel to drive it.

ive driven it a bit with the leaking pump. the rear cantilever needs the shocks tuned really bad. its so soft that with the rear swaybar if one shock compresses under a pothole the other side will follow. There is alot of leverage on the shocks and they are not valves for it right now.

My luck has been terrible with this.

    the good...
-The PS pump issue is fixed. The steering is not twitchy anymore. it drives great. no leaks.
-the front drive shaft is in.

    the bad...
-i now have a massive oil leak on the drivers side of the block. Its to the valve cover. I need to get under there and check it out. the pumpkin in covered in oil.
-the tcase wont shift out of 2wd. I bench tested it when i rebuilt the case. i pulled really hard while driving at low speed to see if i could get it to go and bent the linkage. I'm going to have to rig up something cable actuated

Wanted to bump this. Have you been driving around yet? I'm curious how you like the double ended ram hydro assist? Happy new year to you btw

i have been driving it about once every 2 weeks to work. I've taken it off road a nit. did a 2 day camping trip.

the truck works AWESOME once i took the rear sway bar off. it was way to stiff. the steering is good once you bump the RPM up to about 1500. i need a smaller diameter pulley on the pump. once that gets taken care of it will be perfect.

Shock valving is a problem. the FOA's are so inconstant that i have had a hard time tuning them. The fronts are due to come out and be revalved next.

That's awesome to hear. Any thought about using a wj power steering pump instead of the pulley swap? I'm hoping to run the same style steering as you built but just assumed a wj pump would work better.

I’ve heard that about FOA’s so went with Fox and not one issue!

Love this build, just read through it again for the third time. Definitely helps me plan for my build and inspires all of us to think big! Bought my ZJ as a winter beater/family wheeling rig and will be building it in stages. I'd be interested in pricing on the bracketing/skid plate as a DIY kit for future planning. Keep it up, man!

That window basket thing is awesome! Did I spy one for the passenger's side on the bench in the second to last picture? How do you have them attaching? I'm assuming that you took all the trim out and have it bolted in there, but seeing or hearing how you did it would be interesting. It gets me thinking about something like that for mine, but since I still have the spare inside I'd have to put it on the passenger's side. Looks like you laser- or waterjet cut them out of one sheet of flat stock, right?

Nice! Especially since you haven't adjusted them yet. I expected a little more beam scatter with the lens in front of the projector, but they have a great cut-off.

so my seats arrived. PRP Premier, i opted to add the camelba water pouch to them. its a bit of a gimmick but my wife liked the idea and well....why not keep her happy.

Carbon fiber with slate and black tweed.

i had amazon seat heaters installed in the factory seats. so i pulled those out and installed into the new PRP's.

the back pads were a bit more difficult since the cover doesn't come completely off the seat but i managed to slip my hand through the harness hole by the neck rest and pull the eating pad up the back. good thing for small arms.

I am keeping the factory power seat bases, these are the adapter brackets to mount the PRP's to the factory base.
