I've got those going into T-nuts mounted in the bottom of each leg.

Started on the top today. 3/4" MDF for most of it, 4' of it is 1/2" MDF that I will put a piece of 1/4" steel plate on top of. Won't really use it as a welding table or anything, just want a solid metal surface for part of the top. Also plan on putting some sealer on the MDF and have some small aluminum angle that I will put on the front edge to protect the front a bit, and also keep stuff from rolling off the front.

Started in another bench last night. I'm reusing the top to my old gladiator bench, real nice butcher block style top, but rebuilding the frame to hold 2 harbor freight 44" boxes.

In place and empty.


With the boxes in front of the bench.


Next step is to empty the boxes, take the caster wheels off and he-man those sumbitches in.

Looks good, Dave! Overall, do you feel like the shop is coming together the way you had envisioned it? Anything you'd do differently?

I do like the way it is coming together. I'm about 6 months behind where I wanted to be, but overall very satisfied with it. Certainly have learned a lot through the process too. Nothing major I'd do differently at this point. I think I'm going to move the pegboard down to match up with the bench better and put that cabinet somewhere else.

Once this bench and the mobile woodworking bench are done I think I'm going to leave a lot of the leftover space alone for a while before deciding what to do with it. My "vision" for the shop seems to change almost each time I go out there lol.

Got a lot done this weekend. Got the Harbor Freight boxes into their new home and plumbed in the RapidAir system and drop reel.











Put this one right next to a 220 outlet for a future plasma cutter.




Messy as hell.....

Looks awesome! That looks identical to the "tent heater" i had from Northern Tool. After almost a decade outside it just about rusted away, but it wasn't exactly a controlled environment, and out here we have this thing called hu-mid-ity. It worked well, often cost a bit more than running propane though, but just flipping a switch is nice.

PS, when are we throwing sharp tools through a piece of wood leaned against the garage?

He's already posted about it twice in this thread, so I'm not even sure I'd allow him in there at this point!!

Most of the interior is done at this point, still have a few minor things here and there, but we're moving on to some of the things we want to do outside of the shop. We want to turn the basketball court into more of a patio, and redo a lot of the landscaping. We had a 30yd dumpster dropped off the other day and have been going to town cleaning stuff up and tearing stuff down. The swingset of death is gone!







First step is to get the campers out of the way, grade the dirt a bit, and throw some rock down on that side and the back. Then we can keep going on the patio and other landscaping.

We've spent one night in it in the last few years, but yeah we still have it. Hoping to use it more this summer now that we have the JK.

The shop has definitely been getting a workout the last few months. Added the HF 20 ton press when it was time to do the bushings in my long arms. Not much else has changed out here, but I don't think my cylinder head repair would have gone nearly as smooth as it did if I didn't have the shop. Lots of room to keep the parts organized and clean, and being able to work on it an hour or two at a time really helped me get it done.

Since wheeling season is just about wrapping up here in CO, I don't think I'll be getting the Jeeps out too much more this year. Good news on that is I can focus on finishing up some things in the shop. Need to get my wood table built, finish up the welding tables, and get to really organizing everything I've got out here.

how do you like the push on air lines? a local distributor has a kit and i've been thinking of doing my shop in them.

I really dont use them all that much, but when I have I like them. My 50ft reel will reach most spots, but it's nice having them over the benches for smaller jobs.

i made a switch to milwalkee 18v tools and i don't use air that much. but for the odd job it would be nice to have drops all over the place.
