Would thicker metal provide a legitimate strength increase?

    Thanks guys!
I'll get some more pics when I get home of the underside bracing.

Not super new but a few weeks ago I had some issues with the Dub running rough, rpm looping and no power.
So after a reset(battery disconnect) it ran a ton better then slowly went back to rough again so it was time for some tlc...

After an oil change I inspected the coil packs then proceeded to pull the spark plugs to find this...

    Wow...
so then I put these in to hopefully get a little performance and clear some codes to help it run better ...

    New issue
Wife calls and says Jeep just dies while driving so she limped it home and we traded out she took my 9ner and I take her dub... no issues
So I take it to work a few times and check for codes no new or current/active codes
    Doesn’t die or even stumble
We take it as a family to town over the weekend and still no problems
She calls again today and it’s dead, didn’t even make a 1/2 mile from the house but on a Main Street
She pumps(pounds) the gas pedal and eventually it starts... drives fine and again no codes
This has happened a few more times from what she said but she got it running quicker before so she never called

    Opt #1. Full rebuild
Opt #2. Trade cars full time
Opt #3. Trade for a Toyota
Opt #4. Something simple to fix this?

Do you have a code reader that will data log? If so, hook it up and have it record while she drives it, it may pick up the issue.

Have you been welding on the car with the battery connected?

They may be intermittent. A large evap leak can cause issues like a vacuum leak.

BTW, I like your bumper construction! Gives me inspiration for my ZJ. A buddy has a tubing bender and a 1" die set which could make a nice frame. All the winch bumpers I find make it look like it has a massive under bite.

All that and quite a bit later the engine is done
So now to look for a drop-get-me-by, or wait and put a good reman 4.7...
OR!!! Build the 5.3 ls that I have sitting on a shelf and put that in...
