Yep, insert is my next attempt I think. Bad day at the yard today, beaten by the sun and 2 Jesus clips. Surprisingly, the scrap guys never came through the alley yesterday or today, so the old knuckle was still there.

Dave, you want to come by Sunday the 1st? That would be huge. Mt should get here that weekend and he can assist.

Jim, how much do they sell knuckles for? If you go out again, will you keep your eye out for hood vents?

That should work. I have to run down to Castle Rock at some point that day to pick up the keys from the tenants (they're moving out, we list the place Wednesday, can't freaking wait) so I can try do that like first thing and then head up your way.

Didn't check pricing on knuckles, but I guarantee it's less than the 300 bones the parts stores want...yikes!

Each ZJ I came across today looked like it was in a giant mudbog competition right before it was totaled. Nasty dirty Jeeps this time. I finally found one that the unit bearing was already gone, and fought the cotter pins for over an hour. No dice. No decent niners either. All the ZJs were pretty well picked over anyway.

I ordered an insert for the knuckle I have, I'll drill it and slap it in when it gets here. Little more money for Dan Fredrickson and Ruffstuff

Nope, both bolts slide right through. It's helicoil or fuggit. I'm thinking fuggit

Funny thing is, the passenger knuckle (the one I don't need) looks pristine.

    Done:
    3rd rebuilt w/ARB
    Front JK 44 gears/ARB installed
    ARB compressor and switches wired
    New synergy ball joints installed
    All Claytons brackets welded in
9" axle brackets burned on (Thanks to Neil and his friend Brandon for welding all the brackets!)
    Paint axles

    To go:
    Sling Axles under
    Install front RCV's
Cross drill rear rotors to 5x5
    Bleed brakes / flush system
    Transmission flush
    Cooling system flush
Some trimming, etc to deal with new tires/longarms
Might have to add some 3/4" spacers to deal with lost lift from axle swap.

Weren't many older Fords when I was there, and it seemed like the whole place was a greasy muddy mess. Couldn't even see where the castle nuts ended and the cotter pins started!

OK more trivial progress. Considering some of you guys are up to pretty ambitious projects.

I finished my control arms. Tignt and no more clunking. While under the I checked all suspension bolts and greased everything too.
Solved my ARB air leak. Basically a once a year thing.
Bypassed my heater core with a return loop hose. I have until the fall the replace the heator core.
Welded up my drivers seat. Should have done that years ago as its so nice to have my old seat comfort back.
All that is left to my Jeep is check all fluids and general maintenance.

We added the wheel spacers and sway bar discos to Kyle's Jeep and I plan to extned the bump stops up front. I am also going to build a bracket for his Powertank. Then check the fluids all around too.

    So pretty simple list remaining.

I started installing the skid plates on the WK2 with Rick ' s help. Need to run the fuel down before I can finish those. Also got the tow hooks installed, requiring some "surgery" to my Summit ' s lower grill. Came out pretty good. Looking at a 10 gal. CO2 tank for it, instead of using my big tank.

Same here, good seeing you. I like how your Jeep is turning out. With all the work you and Tyler were doing it inspired me to do Kyle's axle swap. Finished it today and so far so good.

Big props to Ken L for helping me on Saturday. Never would have finished it in a day.

Looks like I'll be scraping for time to finish all I have to do to make it drive much less have time to dial it in!

So far I think I've spent more time on Ken's rig than my own, lol. Got his steering box swapped out today, and finished up my PS pump after making a run to the yard to grab pulleys since apparently 93-95 V8 power steering pulleys are unobtanium and I managed to mangle mine taking it off the old pump. All I have left is checking nuts and bolts and changing the oil. Maybe I should follow my old writeup: http://mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthr...d-my-oil-today!

Busy day on the WK. Put on the 'wheeling tires, and skid plates. Replaced the broken windshield washer nozzles and fabricated and installed a magnetic cell phone holder.

Driver knuckle is in and reamed out - noticed after install that it was a non-ABS knuckle. Oh well, stuffed the wire down into the uniframe so it's out of the way and maybe I'll put some electrical tape over the idiot light

Swapped the rear left 1" BB puck for a 2", that seems to have taken up the 1 inch of sag, so it rides level now.

    Next up:

Swap to the Exploder evap canister I got at the yard
Clean up and paint the rear diff cover
Reinstall the gas skid (took it off when I was installing/fighting the rear bumper)
Fluids in the Jeep and the tow rig
Tires on the trailer...and a spare!

I think Scott said he wanted help bleeding brakes, guess I'll see if he got it done or not.

    Dave,

Thanks again so very much. You saved us a ton of time. We were able to finish the e-brake and some lights on the trailer.
