just did an over haul in the engine, New rings, bearings, etc, everything is hooked up. the coil was bad, swapped that, then it threw a code for crank position sensor, so I swapped that. now there is a code for no reference from the camshaft position. I tested the camshaft position sensor and it is good, so what now, any ideas? I don't really want to just throw money at it till it works

I know from doing stroker research that people have this problem often dont have the timing gears lined up properly. Hopefully some real engine gurus will chime in to help soon. Hope this lead helps!

I'm having kinda the same prob, only mine is stock. Replaced coil, crank sens, plugs, dist, and I think that's all I've replaced.. lol I used my DVOM and I don't have voltage to the coil, and I have really low voltage to the dist. I changed the ASD that didn't help. So I'm think its ECM.... Any thoughts guys?

the timing set was installed properly but really wore out so I put a new one in. now it is throwing code 11, no reference from distributor to pcm.
I did some reading, and some people have had no spark due to the alarm system. I haven't had lock switch in the driver's door for a long time so I put one in, the code went away, still no spark. now the code's back, any thoughts?

changed the cps, no more codes, still no spark. there is power to the coil. can a bad cps cause the coil to fail? I just replaced the coil!

What did you replace the coil with? The auto parts store ones are notoriously bad. Get either and excel or Mopar coil.

Also MAKE SURE you clean the metal where the coil bolts to. Just my two cents... Get a Mopar! Autozone and other aftermarket coils don't last. I've replace mine about 3 times this year autozone.

I tested the coil with a multi meter and the secondary resistance was low, 9880 . the book says 11,300 to 13,300. time for a new coil

I installed an accel coil, still no spark, it's throwing code 11 again. is there a way to test the pcm? maybe it's the asd? I just want to go wheeling!!

If I remember correctly, if its the ASD it will not allow power to the fuel pump, so when you turn the ignition on, listen for the hum. Since you said you just recently built a stroker I believe, check that you havent pinched the Crank sensor harness between the block! I had similar probs with my 96 and it was the distributor. I had to put 2 in it though, because the norm for grand cherokee aftermarket parts is the first one you get from Autozone, Oreillys or wherever is gonna be shit! Also, as Allen94zj said, make sure the area the coil bolts too is clean because it is very tempermental about needing a good ground! Does the Accel coil you have bolt up in the same place, or is it a cylindrical design that mounts up somewhere else?

The new coil bolts in the same spot,

Its not a stroker, just an overhaul. I changed the crank sensor after the motor was in so its not pinched. I'll check my grounds again

The ASD cuts power to the dark green/orange wire, which sends power to pretty much the whole Jeep--the coil, the fuel injectors, the O2 sensors. I just spent several days tracking down that damned wire to see if there was a break in it or something causing it to go to ground. Apparently if any of the major sensors fault out, the PCM sends this circuit to ground. Check all the sensors to see that they're plugged in and can function properly.

There is power to the coil and fuel pressure so maybe the asd is fine. I just cleaned up the ground surfaces on the coil bracket, no more codes! Still no spark, I think my battery is toast from trying to start it so much

Still no spark, I'm taking it to my father-in-law to figure out, he's a retired mechanic so hopefully he can work some magic. I have to get my roof done before it snows and get the nursery done before my kid arrives in January

SOrry to revive an old thread, but I have the same problem.
I had hydrolocked the engine and rebuilt it.
ASD is clicking away rapidly every time that the key is on.
replaced CPS, double-checked timing at distributor, rewired heavier grounds to engine, etc.
Also tried the whole "security thing" of the key in the door and disabling the alarm with the fob...
My guages are all dead tho, and no spark to my coil.
Any success with what was discussed here?

Check the power and ground running to the fuse box under the hood.

I am beyond frustrated! still getting code 11. here is a list of what I've done so far.... Replaced coil (accel), cps, crank ps (mopar), coil wire, spark plugs, battery, pcm (used), timing set, asd relay, tried 3 different distributors, checked all wires between the distributor and pcm, checked all wires between coil and pcm, checked all wires between crank ps and pcm. all the wiring checked out fine. what the heck am I missing? this has drug on way too long! .......
