Easiest thing to do is replace with a D60 AFAIK.

Tyler, I may still have my open D30, although it's from my ZJ. I don't see any reason why they'd be different. If I still have the carrier you can have it, spider gears and all. I'll check tomorrow and shoot you a text.

If he changes carrier to an open, instead of LSD, he needs to change his axle shafts as well.

Or are you saying just for him to use the spiders?

I have thought about going the D60 route up front with 4.56's and 40's filled with helium to balance the added weight and the limited clearance. That should pair well with the 3.73 rear on 35's.

Tyler, I have my old LP D30 LSD (2004 WJ) sitting in my yard that no one wants to buy from me lol. If you want parts from it to fix yours, let me know.Id rather help you out than have it sit in my yard and rot away.

Looks like I'll be hitting the junk yard this weekend because I broke more than just the gears. Holy crap there are lots of parts in one of these limited slips.

This is a good time to learn how to set up a ring and pinion before I build my new axles.

Completely stock hydrolock with 3.73's. The dingus that applies pressure to the clutches shattered and shards of it gouged the clutches and the side/spiders were skipping. Junk.

A girl I work with just had the front end replaced on her WJ, bent/cracked tubes. She is checking to see if and what parts they have left over.

A few of us got a decent rub about mid-trail where hugging the rock to the right got you through pretty level, but veering left to miss the rock tried to put your passenger side glass all over said rock

I'm trying to picture where on Kane Creek this is, we run it 2 or 3 times a year and never came close to any body damage. But I will say I hate the wash outs on the first 1/3 of the trail that get you a little sideways.

I'll have to see if we have a pic of the spot.

There were a ton of spots that were washed out pretty severely.

Yep, that's the spot. If I remember correctly it was MUCH more washed out this year than in your pic. Enough driver to miss the big rock would lean your passenger side on the boulder and leave behind a glass deposit

We could possibly have gone straight longer than we did, then turned down, but it looked like it was heading straight for vegetation, which to me is off trail.

Even with your line (2 years ago if your camera time stamp in the last pic is correct), your RR quarter panel was pretty dang close to the boulder.

How long of a time between pic 1 and pic 4? I'm thinking 4 is much later than 1 unless you put the water jugs in the rack mid-obstacle

Those are old pictures from 2 different trips in 2011 with the black ZJ. When we were there this May it was washed out a bit more than before, below is the first picture-worthy moment of the day on this trip though, wife stayed in the Jeep up until this. I like the variety of Kane Creek, especially for lunch spots by the creek if you have kids or dogs, but those washed out spots definitely can make you nervous in a taller rig.

Ok...my carnage report (finally). Hit deer with pickup on the way there about 60 miles south of Moab. Had to be towed in and had it repaired there at Arches Repair. Total cost to repair pickup was over $8,100.00 and it took 6 or 7 weeks. Just went back up there this last weekend to pick it up and drive it home. O....and I bent the drive shaft on my Jeep while there and got another one installed at Moab 4x4 outpost for $220 bucks.

God that's crazy it took so long to get done.

How'd you bend the drive shaft?

Bent the drive shaft the first day on Cliffhanger. Not so bad it wasn't drivable, but couldn't go over 40 mph without it vibrating like crazy. Moab 4x4 outpost fixed me up. He has a whole stack of used drive shafts out back just picked through them until we found one the right length. The pickup sat there for over 3 weeks before the insurance company FINALLY authorized the repair. Took them two weeks to get an adjuster out to look at it. Then another week or so to order the parts. Insurance company (American Family) really drug their feet. But, on the other hand, when they finally did come through they paid for more than I needed. For example the hood and one fender were barely dented....easy fixes.....but they put on whole new hood and fender. Didn't scrimp on the repairs...just took them forever to authorize it.

I finally drained the trans. The filter was a bit clogged by the pickup. I put in 7 quarts, should only be 4, and it seems to be driving fine. I need a longer trip but around the neighborhood it did fine. My neighbor thinks it was low on fluid. I checked twice with other people watching. However, his theory is that if it was clogged, the fluid would be in the pan and not in the rest of the trans so it would seem full. We will see.
