HEY GUYSSSS
fuck you. Can build tons under rigs, can not figure out how to loosen tension on engine to replace water pump.
but really. So driving to work this morning I lost power steering on highway, luckily pulled off with mechanical steering but it turns out the pulley for the water pump is loose as a goose so my water pump needs replacing.
here comes the question. To take off those stupid 4 bolts that hold the fan on, I need to put the belt back on (came off when pulley was jiggling on highway)
on the 5.2 there was a tension pulley to pull to let some slack.
I cant for the life of me figure out how to get slack in these pulleys. I saw online to loosen the nut that is diagnol to the left of PS pump. I loosened it a whole lot and I don't see how that does anything.
I am retarded.
Thank you. help me
The adjustment bolt is on the driver's side (and bottom) of the PS mount. I found it easier to loosen all PS mounting bolts and then loosen the adjustment bolt; reassembly is the reverse (tighten mounting bolts, then adjuster bolt). I can't remember if there's an adjuster locking bolt on the front or not; I don't think so, but you might check for one.
