Well shit i have been chasing a miss guess i found the prob
Ok here we go again motor is coming out
Ouch, whats the plan this time?
well I would like to say stroker time but its just not in the budget right now so im going to have a local guy re due the bottom end and stick it back in.
The question is now do i have the trans gone through while its out hmmmmm
busy couple of nights but motor and trans are out ready to go to builder
If the trans wasnt giving you issues and the fluid looks good, I wouldnt worry about having it re-done. I have 180K on mine and its still going strong. I would just do a simple fluid and filter change, along with adjusting the bands.
Soooo been surfin craigs list for tires and wheels and stumbled over these Rubicon Black Opps wheels and tires couldn't resist
Trans back from Pro Trans all new like with new converter
put new tires on looks good i thing need lift
Oh yea and new gear box
Its going to be a 100% new jeep here pretty soon
Well that should fix the miss!! Turns out motor was allot worse than I thought! Bearings and cam were pretty bad and took 30 over to clean up cylinders but good to go now!!
not much done tonight but got head on
wow man. I can imagine how ripped you were to get the head on and have to start all over. Ive been there before with a bigblock chevy motor i had done. S-ton of money out of pocket too. Glad to see where this is going. looking forward to updated pics
Yea I was not happy and my gut feeling was to take it out then but I didnt do it , oh well live and learn!!
But its in now YAY!!!
got bottom all buttoned up and some of the top, what a Bitch to get bolts started in intake manifold!!!!!

Its alive!!!!
Seems to run good so far got some Limited headlights for free they were pretty ugly looking but after some polishing look pretty good
Got the lift installed today iron rock 4 inch basic kit, its all i could afford after everything else, long arms later lol
Did a nice little test drive today and it drove pretty well, got back to shop and ac line went pop hisss. Figures!!
Auto bone and Oreiles do not carry that line it goes from acumulater to compressor over alt in front of motor
thiss one
Here are some pics of it lifted
Looks great , long time comming too.
well as with everything else on this thing my 242 took a crap so after much research and some conversation with jb conversions I bit the bullite and ordered a 231 HD
it came in today
I'm digging this thread. It looks like you've had some pretty bad luck. You've already replaced the motor, trans, and now TC? I guess axles are next to explode but I hope not, for your sake.
Yea its been a money pit and I have never as of yet even had it off road to abuse it and rear axle was replaced with a Dana 44A cuz the 35 was making all sorts of bad noises has new bearings and trussed
http://mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthr...-44-Alum-build
and the 35 has new seals bearings and cv axles which one of the boots has a hole in with less than 1000 miles on it auto bone crap!!!!
maybe i should just give up on this one lol
The input shaft on that 231 looks too short for the WJ. Maybe just the angle of the pic. Did you compare it to your old 242?
