On my 02 WJ, I'm looking at swapping out the 242 (behind a 545rfe) for a 241or. I haven't been able to find the exposed length of the 242's input shaft to see if the input shaft on the 241or will match-up with my transmission. According to the following post, the input shaft can't be swapped out on a tj 241or, but can on a jk 241or. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...31/index3.html

I've also sent some emails back and forth with a company that sells input shafts and they could only tell me the 242 has 4 possible input shaft lengths (I already knew that from their website) and that they don't make input shafts for the 241or. I really don't want to take my tcase off before I'm ready to put on the clayton's and order a new rear DS. Anybody know the 242's exposed input shaft length? How about the tj and jk 241or's? Thanks

I appreciate it. I'd like to ditch my stock 242 for the rubicon case (241or).

You are looking for the input shaft lenght for a 242HD that sit behind the V8 right and not I6. If it is the 242HD you wont have any problem selling it to someone swapping out a 247.

    The V8 242HD is 2 7/16.
