    First, off . . .

    THANK YOU!!!!

It was amazing the way you guys all chipped in and raised a bunch of money to donate to our land use organizations. We ended up raising even more money after I gave the last update at the pizza in the park, so we are now at $616. That is awesome, HUGE thanks to everyone that chipped in.

With the larger attendance in previous years, we had also accumulated a small surplus in the GSW fund, so we will be passing that on to the land use organizations as well. So with your donations, we will be able to donate a total of $750. We are still determining exactly which organizations the money will go to, and how much, as we want to make sure that the money goes to the right people. Some of you may have heard the discussions around sending some of the funds to Red Rock 4 Wheelers to help get Hell's Gate and the Hot Tubs included in the Environmental Impact Studies so that we can get those obstacles included in our permit. I will be in contact with RR4W about that, as well as other organizations to make sure our donations are put to good use.

THANK YOU again to all of those who donated, and we will certainly be doing this again next year at GSW. This was a much larger success than I anticipated, especially with a down year for attendance. I figure if we get 40 vehicles next year, and each driver is able to chip in $20, there's another $800 towards helping out the organizations that fight day in and day out for our ability to recreate on public land.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, we ended up donating $500 to the Red Rock 4 Wheelers, and they are working on getting Hell's Gate and the Hot Tubs added to the official route. We also donated $250 to Tread Lightly! for their general efforts in promoting responsible wheeling.

THANK YOU again to all of you who donated!

I'd say RR4W serves GSW's interests well since we are in Moab every year.

Just got this back from TreadLightly!

    Dear Dave,

On behalf of all of us at Tread Lightly!, thank you for your generous donations on behalf of Grand Slam West. You have demonstrated your commitment to the stewardship of the great outdoors and to ethics education programs focused on safe and responsible outdoor recreation.

Your support is greatly appreciated and we are proud to say that nearly 90 cents of each dollar donated directly benefit our award-winning educational and training programs.
Thanks to generous contributions from individuals like you, we have been able to launch several exciting programs focusing on education and stewardship of America’s lands and waterways:
Respected Access is Open Access is a multi-dimensional education and outreach campaign with a simple message: responsible behavior leads to continued access. Learn more at www.respectedaccess.org.
Tread Lightly! created the RIDE ON Designated Routes campaign to communicate the importance of riding or driving motorized vehicles only on routes or in areas designated as open to motor vehicle use.
Get involved: Our stewardship grants are designed to help individuals and clubs organize clean-ups, trail maintenance work days, and other small stewardship projects. Learn more and apply at www.treadlightly.org.

Educate yourself and others: Our website is full of helpful tips for a wide range of outdoor activities. If you’d like a more in-depth learning experience, take our Online Awareness Course on our website or sign up for a Tread Trainer Course, which will provide you with an even more extensive exploration of the Tread Lightly! principles and provide you with the tools you need to conduct workshops and coordinate community outreach.
    Thank you,
