My rig is a mild trail rig/daily driver. Three or four years ago I installed Aussies in both axles. Since the install, the front axle or locker itself, chatters like shit when I make left turns, slow sharp lefts. Chatters like a box of rocks. It works though. It locks and unlocks.

Any idea what to look for before I decide to take the cover off and check the tolerance again?

Is this in a ZJ with stock axles? If so, your problem is that you have a lunchbox locker in the front axle. If you had manual locking hubs, it'd be fine, but without them you're binding up the drive train.

    Any more details?

edit: I responded assuming a 249 transfer case was in use... but I realize that probably isn't the case. I still believe that lockers up front are generally a pain in the ass and bad news without lock-outs on the hubs.

Krash80: And my trailer weighs 8,000 lbs empty.
CurtP: What does your house have to do with any of this?

read the section titled 'BINDING ISSUES OF UNIVERSAL JOINTED FRONT AXLE SHAFTS'

    http://www.rcvperformance.com/pdf/rcv_jeep_catalog.pdf

the aussie locker is magnifying the problem - have someone turn the wheel sharp and drive slowly while you look at the front driveshaft (i did this at the local park in an empty parking lot)

my front driveshaft was slamming around while in 2 wheel drive and turning

    not anymore
