I've attempted this trail a few times, never completed it. The first time, back in 02, there was still a massive snowdrift Memorial Day Weekend. The next time attempt I snapped a motor mount about 30 minutes in. It's not a difficult trail by any stretch, but scenic and close, and we all wanted a quick shakedown run before GSW.

It was me & Pam, Ken L, JohnBoulderCO, and mtnWJ with his son Kyle.

We made quick time through the switchbacks and got up near timberline really quick.

Found some rocks to play around on.

The trip down was pretty uneventful, only saw 2 other ATV's on the trail the whole time. In between the first gate and the parking lot though, something off in the woods caught my eye, you can barely see it in the pics but there was a moose back there.

Nice easy day, only have a couple minor things to iron out now before Moab. We were back at the house by 2:30, can't remember that ever happening after a day on the trail.

Damn...I should've snuck out, filled the tank and ran with you - turned out I didn't have to do much to the Heep today...one of my favorite trails.

Looks like it was a gorgeous day.

After the rain in town yesterday, I would have expected more mud and/or snow up there. Looks like it was a great day.

Funny, Dave. I figured it was something like that. Good one!

Yeah it was a great day on the trail. Jim, that spot by the tree where you dropped your coil last year has been re-worked. The whole trail has been re-worked, almost paved in spots, but still has enough "stuff" to make for a fun adventure. We could see Red Cone and Webster from the top and they still look snow covered.

Thanks for posting the pics. They sure are beautiful mountains, and cool Grands.

Best part of the trip was the weather and the company. Kyle and I had a good time as usual. Too bad Twin Cone has been graded as much as we encountered. We will need to keep an eye on it over the summer as often the trails after grading will erode fairly quickly.

I think everyone was able to vet out what they needed before GSW. I am down to some pretty simple stuff.

Nice pics Dave and Pam, new camera looks like a winner.
