While in town for GSW, does anyone take advantage of any extra days to do some ‘local’ stuff (i.e. Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point, etc?)
(GSW09)
On Thurs, Matt & I hit Arches and did the trek up to Delicate Arch. That was badass. On Monday, Matt & I followed Jim Karlin & Family and journeyed out to the Sego Canyon ghost town. That was also badass and one helluva scenic ride. We bumped into an elderly couple exploring the ruins and discovered that they lived nearby me in PA!
This year I want to check out False Kiva in Canyonlands or scout around Dead Horse Point.
Anyone up for some exploring?
Sounds like a plan for us Sudz - we've been meaning to check out Dead Horse Point for years.
So what day. Before or after?
I may be up for Wednesday if it's not an all day'er. It will be a game time decision depending on whether I need to do anything on my one day not running trails.
We'll probably be pulling in late Wednesday, so that would leave Monday for us.
I may be in for this on Wednesday. I'm tentatively planning to camp for a few days on the way to Moab, but have reservations beginning Tuesday night @ the Redstone.
I have been to Dead Horse Point State Park twice, the first time was before I bought my ZJ and I told the wife I wanted to drive Pot Ash Road which you can see from there down in the canyon. This is not a whole day thing, stop there, then go over to Canyonland National Park and down the switchback road to Pot Ash Road and back to Moab, then you can see Dead Horse Point from above and below and have a very enjoyable day.
You all have fun, maybe I will make GSW2013...
Those are great pics Ron!
