New to Mallcrawlin, i'm usually over on Jeep Forum but thought i'd share my build thread here.

I bought my ZJ in April 2011. I'm currently 19 and this is my 6th car.

It's a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited with 92k mile and i bought it for $3800 about a half hour from my house.

The day after i bought it. Got rid of those wheels for some dodge nitro wheels.

Time to lift it. Went with IRO 4.5" Critical Path Long Arm for a couple reasons. I work with my neighbor on his Jeeps a lot and we've had experience with 4-link fronts binding. Also this set up flexed amazing even with short arms in the rear and i can always upgrade. Selling the rear adjustable arms will be no problem as i have a few friends with ZJ's. I also ordered Bilsteins from Kolak, better price and awesome shocks.

Got some new Cragar Soft 8's from Summit for $200. Yea i know, everyone has these blah blah.

Also, i went with 33x12.50x15 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. Got them for $600 shipped to my door from Tire Rack (they had a rebate deal going). LOVE THESE TIRES.

Then i got my spare. A BFG KM1 with about 30% on a black Rock Crawler. Not bad for $20

Time for the install. Didn't take a ton of pics but this is what i got

First we assembled and installed the new crossmember

Then tore down the front end

Took out sway bar links. They were being difficult so a torch and a BFH did the trick

    Coils

    Track Bar

    Arms

    Shocks and Discos

Also had a bad CV boot so we put a new one on

Front end done except the brakelines (IRO sent 2 rears and 1 front)

Didnt take pics of the rear but here it is done. Took like 2 hours... Very easy

    Back to the front

    On her new shoes

Rear sat a little high so i put a 3/4" spacer in the front. Love the stance now.

    Put my CB/PA in

She stayed like that for a couple months then i got sick of the 249 transfer case. Picked up a 1990 242 out of an XJ and we did a front half case swap. 242 is soooooo much better. Fairly easy swap, did it in less than a day. Would have been faster but one of the big snap rings in the 249 was broken

Thanks. Got a new addition to the ZJ last week, i'm sure you guys know the story

And did a little wheeling in the canyon not too far from my house. Just an area to do some light wheeling if you're bored and there was a little mud. Blew up my front CV driveshaft. I'm gonna get a junkyard u joint shaft and yoke and then when i have a little more money i'll get the Carolina Driveline U Joint shaft and yoke for $138 and use the JY one as my spare

You should've installed those shocks with the body up.

I guess I should've looked closer. I didn't realize those were the stock-style post mounting shocks.

Thanks guys!! She's a work in progress but the way she sits now, she's a pretty good combo of daily driver and weekend wheeler. Wish i could go extreme on the build but maybe when i get some money and she's not my DD i'll be able to.

Steering is coming next then i'll start building my rear long arms. Wish i could soon but probably in a couple months

Looks like it stuffs perfectly. Where is the driveshaft from? Did you have vibes or did the previous one crap out on you?
