My brother and I picked this up from a friend. There is some driveline whine that we haven't yet diagnosed. It really sounds like it's coming from the front, but we haven't figured that out yet.
First thing was first, we had to get it looking better. The headlights were looking pretty awful, the wheels were disgusting. I wish I'd snapped a before picture of the headlights. The driver's seat bracket was completely ruined, the window trim was looking heinous with the rust popping through.
So we set about getting it cleaned up and looking better.
The window strips pretty much fell apart as I was taking them off the door.
Some rust stains on the door.
Finished product
Scored a set of JK Moabs/tires locally
I had to trim just a little off the front bumper so I could turn.
I'm taking a beating over on Jeepforum, I think the users are so brainwashed about the lift kits that they purchased that they are angry that I'm running bigger tires than they are without spending time and money on a lift.
It actually clears better than I thought it would, at least as long as I'm keeping the swaybars connected.
I want to stay this height, but it could stand to be leveled out. I'm willing to accept advice on fender trimming. I need to get rid of some rust on the rockers so I might as well get the fenders trimmed up while I'm in there. I haven't touched the metal yet, the only thing I trimmed was the small amount of plastic in that picture a few above here.
I think we'll do a tummy tuck skid and call it a day for now on mods. It seems like the KM2s will clear pretty well with some minor trimming. We also need front tow-points. I was considering factory Jeep tow hooks, but there seem to be some better options out there. Let me know what works best, this is my first WJ.

john, its a good looking rig, very clean, at least on the outside.
the JF guys can get a bit wraped around with tire size vs lift height, just bump stop it and call it a day.
what are you future plans for it?
also, how did you pay for it?
Thanks, my brother and I are enjoying it already, just not driving it too far or too hard until we figure out that noise.
It will be mostly a run-around, it will see a lot of use in the winter/snow, and we plan to take it on the beach in the Outer Banks when we head down there. It's not going to be a rock crawler.
I would like to trim a little bit, just to get rid of some rust and get it looking better than stock, nothing too extreme, I'm not going for maximum suspension travel. I want to to look like it could be stock..if that makes sense. I want it to be clean and stock appearing when I get done.
Today we attacked the driver's seat frame, it turned into a bit more of a project than I had intended.
Here are the ebay seats. The seller wouldn't split them up and send me just the driver's seat, but that ended up working out well.
Stripped it down and made sure the motors all worked.
Took the bottom seat leather from the passenger ebay seat, and retro-fitted it onto my hybrid driver's seat.
The ebay driver's seat had some broken wires, so I used my wiring harness and upper seatback.
My original driver's seat frame was destroyed.
It came out nicely. The evidence of the passenger seat leather on the driver's seat isn't very noticeable.
