    anyone own one of these or used one? thinking of buying one and was wondering if the cheaper ones worked alright or if i really need the 300-400 dollar one if i was really cutting a set of tires.

    I have one like this:

    It works like a champ. I've Had it for years now... Ever since my dad last ran dirt car in the early 90's. I have 1/4" wide and 1/2" wide heads. Let it heat up about 10 minutes, get your rythem down, and cut some rubber off! Flip the blade over to do siping.

    Here's a pic of an old set of tires I did with the 1/4" head. I like the 1/2" head better.
