    Hey all

I may have to move to New Hampshire and I was looking at the lift laws, it looks like the only real law is on bumper height.

Is there any chance to get my lifted WJ to pass NH inspection? If so how?

Right now it is at 5.5" of lift, 35 in tires and the bumpers are over 24" off the ground.

    Or am I fawked?

I thought about that. I guess 30" tires would get me close on the front.

What about some sort of bumper pads that attach and hang below the edge would that lower the measuring point as well?

Any idea how leniant the local PD is? It would suck to regularly get fix-it tickets if they're anal about height. Also, could you get screwed by your insurance company if you get in a wreck and are above the max legal height?

Does the weeling their constitute 35s, or could you lower it some and get away with 33s? Short of that, I would look into building some kind of quick-release "drop bumpers."

edit: How much are you over by now?

About 4" in the front and maybe 7" in back depends I'd the count the bottom of the receiver which is on the bumper or not. If they count it then it would be about 5" in the rear.

I could also pull my 2" pucks for inspection thos along with 30" tires would get me real close for inspections

To be honest all lift are against the law in new hampshire. For the rule books say no altering of the suspension. Though it is more of the officers discretion. A town couple will not hassle you but a state trooper would as they are really the only ones that know the laws. The big thing is to make sure you tires do not stick out past the fenders. Find the right inspection station and you will be all set. My wj with 33s and 6 inches is stickered, I do stickers but I work on trucks now.

So you are saying that my XJ with 6.5 in of lift and 33in tires might not pass. I also just moved to New Hampshire luckily I also have a completely stock wj. Hope it works out for you.

A buddy of mine here in PA used to drive his spring over CJ7 with 35s on the road and used a piece of plate steel that slid into the receiver in the rear to meet bumper laws. He also had 10" steel "flares" he screwed onto it to cover the tires. He got flagged over @ a state checkpoint and the guy who looked at it in the checkpoint said he didn't see anything wrong and sent him on his way.
